About this role
## Senior Business Systems Analyst **Business Systems** drives efficiency across Datadog through business process analysis, systems automation and integrations, AI agent and MCP development, and vendor/software review. The team is embedded in cross-functional initiatives across People, Finance, GTM, Legal, Recruiting, and Technical Solutions—translating ambiguous business problems into scoped, buildable solutions and owning delivery end-to-end. This is **not** a generalist BSA role. Each Senior BSA owns a **cluster of business functions end-to-end**, acting as an internal product manager for their domain (not processing inbound requests reactively). There are **two openings**, each covering a different domain: - **People, Recruiting, Legal** - **Finance, GTM, Procurement** As the role evolves alongside AI, Senior BSAs leverage agentic tools for data aggregation and context gathering while remaining the critical human-in-the-loop layer—owning business context and product outlook, validating use cases, managing stakeholder relationships, and making judgment calls agents can’t. --- ### What You’ll Do - **Discovery and scoping:** Translate ambiguous asks into well-defined requirements that Business Systems Engineers can build against; surface cross-functional impact before engineering begins. - **Cross-functional visibility:** Identify dependencies, downstream impacts, and integration considerations. - **Proactive opportunity identification:** Develop deep domain knowledge to identify automation and AI opportunities before they become inbound requests. - **Stakeholder relationship ownership:** Primary point of contact for your domain; reduce ad hoc consultations landing on team leads and senior ICs. - **Systems and governance:** Review system configuration, data integrity, and vendor fit; maintain clear documentation (process diagrams, system flows, user guides); ensure compliance with security and privacy standards (e.g., **GDPR**, **SOX**). --- ### Who You Are - Prior experience as a **Business Systems Analyst** (or similar), ideally in a high-tech or SaaS environment. - Experience owning a business domain end-to-end; comfortable operating like an internal product manager. - Excellent written and verbal communication; can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage relationships with senior leadership. - Comfortable using **AI/agentic tools** for data aggregation and context gathering, while knowing where human judgment is required. - Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and complex integrations. - Familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., **SOX**, **GDPR**, **SOC**, **ISO**). - **4+ years** as a business system administrator (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday, Zendesk) or a business systems analyst leading complex, cross-functional projects (or similar). - **4+ years** managing multiple projects simultaneously and formulating business design documents. - Comfortable deciphering technical documentation (e.g., API documentation) and translating business needs into technical requirements. **By domain:** - **People, Recruiting, Legal:** Exposure to **HRIS/ATS/contract lifecycle** systems (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse) and cross-functional dependencies. - **Finance, GTM, Procurement, Technical Solutions:** Exposure to financial systems, deal desk, or procurement/vendor management tooling (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, Zendesk, Zip) and downstream data integrity implica
