## Mission Summary The Data Platform team is the vital link between Motional’s data and the engineering teams that rely on it. We architect and operate core services and infrastructure that transform petabytes of raw data each month into actionable insights for our Machine Learning and Autonomy engineers. You’ll contribute across key initiatives: - **Data Processing:** Build robust, performant, user-friendly, highly fault-tolerant data pipelines for a rapidly scaling fleet and advanced ML engineering needs. - **Data Discovery:** Create a discovery platform that combines cataloging data for search across metadata stores, vector datastores, and data warehouses—partnering with ML and autonomy stakeholders to build it. - **Data Lineage:** Build a data lineage system to track usage of data across Motional, ensuring broad adoption and addressing stakeholder pain points. ## What You’ll Be Doing - Design and build next-generation data infrastructure. - Build scalable backend services for **data discovery** and **data lineage**. - Write high-quality, maintainable code to process **petabytes of data**. - Lead and champion system design and participate in high-quality code reviews/technical contributions. - Design, build, and maintain scalable data processing and access using **cloud ETL** technology. ## What We’re Looking For - **3+ years** of professional experience as a **data engineer** or **data pipeline engineer**. - **BS or MS** in Computer Science or related field. - Strong development experience with **Python** and **SQL**. - Expertise with **AWS** services and solutions (**EKS, Lambda, ETL**). - Experience designing and developing **distributed systems**. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, continuous delivery environment. ## Bonus Points (Not Required) - Experience with **infrastructure monitoring**. - Experience working in **cross-functional** development teams. - Prior experience with **agentic workflows**. - Prior experience in **autonomous vehicles (AV)**. ## Location / Work Model We encourage a **hybrid** schedule with in-office time in **Boston, Pittsburgh, or Las Vegas**, or this role can be **fully remote**. ## About Motional Motional is a driverless technology company making autonomous vehicles a safe, reliable, and accessible reality—driven by people-first values and a mission with higher purpose and greater impact. *#LI-AE1*
