The company is global, with employees working remotely worldwide and from offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and The Netherlands. ## About the Role Infra Solutions is a small, multi-disciplinary team that sits between platform builders and the teams that need platform capabilities. You’ll lead hands-on engagements to diagnose and unblock infrastructure challenges, drive migrations, and create durable artifacts so other teams don’t hit the same walls. This role is built on “unreasonable hospitality” (delivering outsized value), backed by strong engineering and operator depth. You’ll work in production, write code other engineers depend on, and collaborate in rooms you don’t own—helping teams adopt infrastructure effectively. ## Impact You’ll Own - **Lead end-to-end technical engagements** with engineering teams to diagnose, unblock, and resolve complex infrastructure challenges. - **Execute critical migrations** with reference implementations, tooling, and guidance to transition off deprecated systems. - **Accelerate platform adoption** as the primary technical contact for new teams onboarding to Planet’s core infrastructure. - **Establish standardized paths** by consolidating disparate solutions into well-supported offerings. - **Build scalable shared artifacts** (reusable libraries, Terraform modules, Helm charts) to solve recurring patterns. - **Enhance platform observability** with instrumentation and attribution tooling for infrastructure cost, usage, and adoption visibility. - **Inform platform strategy** by synthesizing feedback and common pain points to influence the infrastructure roadmap. ## What You Bring - **6+ years** in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, including leading at least one cross-team project or migration. - **Bachelor’s degree** in a relevant field. - Experience in **technical enablement / developer experience / solutions architecture**, focused on internal developer productivity. - **Hands-on experience** operating and maintaining production infrastructure. - Deep expertise in **Kubernetes** (workload optimization and operations). - Working knowledge of **Google Cloud Platform (GCP)** or other public clouds (compute, storage, quota, capacity modes). - Experience with **Infrastructure as Code** (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD) and **CI/CD** pipelines. - Proficiency in **Go or Python**. - Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into structured, actionable engineering tasks. - Excellent **written and verbal communication** for documentation and cross-functional collaboration. ## What Makes You Stand Out - Experience with **large-scale block storage** (Persistent Disk, Hyperdisk, Ceph, SAN, or equivalent) operated at fleet scale. - Experience driving **large-scale migrations/deprecations** requiring buy-in beyond your reporting line. - Consulting-adjacent experience (solutions architecture, professional services, or technical account engineering) applied to an internal platform. - Familiarity with **workflow orchestration** (e.g., Temporal), batch/job executi
