## Astranis — Software Defined Radio Hardware Associate (Summer 2027) **About the role** Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks for enterprises, sovereign governments, and the U.S. military. With satellites already on orbit and more launching soon, the team is servicing a backlog of $1B+ in commercial contracts. Associate Engineer positions typically last **12 weeks** and are **salaried** roles for students who have **already received a bachelor’s degree** (or will have done so before starting). > If you’re still in college, apply for the **Intern** role instead. --- ## What you’ll do - **Design, simulate, implement, and test** internally developed **software defined radio (SDR) hardware** - **Bring up and debug** hardware in the lab using top-tier instruments and equipment - **Write code** to evaluate performance and **automate testing** of satellite hardware - **Integrate systems into the spacecraft** by working closely with the broader team --- ## Requirements - Passion for **hardware development** in a fast-paced, hands-on environment - **Bachelor’s degree** in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) - Demonstrated ability to **personally design, build, and test PCBA hardware** from scratch (e.g., student design teams, competitions, personal projects) - Strong EE foundation in one or more of: - **Analog design** (op amps, transistors, RLC filters) - **Digital design** (FPGAs, SoCs, SERDES, DDR, LVDS) - **Mixed-signal design** (ADCs, DACs, power integrity) - **RF design** (lineups, S-parameters, impedance matching) --- ## Bonus (nice to have) - Experience building/using **software defined radios** - **Altium Designer** (or similar PCB design tools) - Analysis tools experience (ADS, ANSYS, MATLAB) - **Python** (or similar programming languages) - **Soldering and rework** experience - EE lab bench equipment experience (power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, etc.) --- ## Pay - **Base salary:** **$1,925 per week** --- ## Eligibility **U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee status required** (per U.S. Government space technology export regulations). --- Astranis is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages people of all backgrounds to apply.
