We empower consumers to leverage their data in exchange for modern financial services, while helping businesses achieve better outcomes through data insights. **About the Role** As Lead Software Engineer for Frisbee Rewards, you'll serve as the backend technical anchor for the consumer application and execution lead across Attain's mobile engineering teams. The Frisbee mobile app uses a backend-driven infrastructure where business logic, feature gating, and UX configuration are controlled by backend services, with mobile clients as thin rendering layers. **What You'll Do** • Design and own Rust-based microservices powering the Frisbee consumer experience • Own backend systems for business logic, feature flags, and UX configuration • Define and maintain clean APIs and client-server contracts for iOS/Android • Partner closely with mobile engineers to enable fast execution • Act as technical owner for major initiatives from design through production • Provide architectural guidance and code review across codebases • Collaborate with Product and Design on scalable systems • Help establish engineering standards and raise the technical bar **You're a Great Fit If** • You have strong backend engineering experience and enjoy owning systems end-to-end • You're excited to design services that orchestrate product behavior and UX • You work well with mobile engineers and can define APIs, schemas, and data models • You value clear communication and strong engineering judgment • You're interested in growing into broader technical leadership **Preferred Qualifications** • 6+ years building and owning backend systems in production • Strong API, service boundary, and data model design experience • Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures • Cloud environment experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) • Experience with iOS and Android engineering teams • Familiarity with gRPC, protobuf, or GraphQL • Experience with relational databases • Understanding of mobile performance characteristics **Location** Redwood City, CA (Hybrid: Mondays in-office + 3 days Tues-Friday)
