## Data Center Controls Engineer **About Anthropic** Anthropicis seeking an experienced Datacenter Controls Engineer to join our Datacenter Infrastructure team. Design, implement, and optimize control systems supporting global datacenter infrastructure for reliable AI operations at scale. **Key Responsibilities** **System Architecture & Integration** • Design multi-site controls architecture across global datacenter facilities • Define network topology, redundancy, and high-availability requirements • Develop standardized frameworks for BACnet, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC-UA, MQTT, and SNMP • Ensure integration between control systems and enterprise networks with security compliance **Control System Design & Implementation** • Define and implement control systems for datacenter mechanical, electrical, and building management • Develop SCADA/BMS applications using Ignition, Niagara/Tridium, or similar platforms • Select and specify instrumentation for liquid cooling loops, power distribution, and environmental monitoring **Data Collection & Visualization** • Architect centralized telemetry systems for high-resolution time-series data • Develop dashboards using Ignition SCADA, Grafana, or comparable frameworks • Enable performance insights, fault detection, and predictive maintenance **Construction Integration & Documentation** • Participate in design and construction projects for controls standards • Create technical documentation including P&IDs, control narratives, and commissioning procedures • Validate systems during commissioning **Minimum Qualifications** • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Computer) or equivalent • 7+ years in control systems design for industrial automation, building automation, or datacenters • Deep familiarity with industrial protocols: BACnet, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC-UA, MQTT, SNMP, Ethernet-IP • Experience with instrumentation selection and control system integration • Network architecture knowledge (subnets, VLANs, firewalls, IP management) • Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills **Preferred Qualifications** • 10+ years in datacenter or critical facilities environments • Liquid cooling systems experience (CDUs, CDMs, cooling towers) • High-density rack integration and AI/ML compute infrastructure background • BMS/SCADA deployment experience (Ignition, Niagara/Tridium, Wonderware) • Database integration expertise (SQL Server, InfluxDB, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB) • Python or scripting proficiency for SCADA/BMS automation • Multi-site redundant controls server deployment experience • PE license or vendor certifications (Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens) • Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, ISA standards • Grafana, Node-RED, or Ignition Perspective experience • Cloud orchestration to facility-level power controls integration experience **Compensation & Details** 💰 Annual Salary: $320,000 – $405,000 USD 📍 Hybrid: 25% office time minimum (some roles may require more) 🎓 Bachelor's degree required in relevant field ✅ Visa sponsorship available **We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including those who don't meet every qualification.**
