**Data Center Standards Engineer – Junior** **About the Role** Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. This role focuses on developing and maintaining data center engineering standards and documentation that enable consistent, accessible, portfolio-wide practices. **Responsibilities** - Develop and maintain data center engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and technical requirements. - Coordinate standards inputs from electrical, mechanical, telecom, and IT subject matter experts (SMEs); publish standards releases on a cadence. - Author reference designs, technical briefs, and illustrated newsletters to support engineering knowledge transfer. - Ensure published materials meet **WCAG 2.0** and **PDF/UA-1** accessibility requirements. **Qualifications** - Must currently possess or be able to obtain **VA Public Trust – High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4** background investigation. - **Bachelor’s degree** (preferably Engineering, Computer Science, or related) and **2+ years** of standards development or technical documentation experience in an infrastructure context. - Education substitutions (per Peraton framework): - Master’s degree substitutes for ~2 years of required experience. - In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, **4 additional years** of relevant experience is acceptable. - Associate’s degree + **2 additional years** also accepted for equivalent professional levels. **Desired Skills / Tools / Processes** - **Tools:** Adobe FrameMaker/Acrobat, MS Visio, AutoCAD, SharePoint, MadCap Flare. - **Processes/Frameworks:** ITIL v4, SAFe Agile/Scrum, NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, VA CRISP alignment, NFPA 70/70E, OSHA safety practices. - **Accessibility:** WCAG 2.0 / PDF-UA-1. **Certifications (Desirable)** - **BICSI RCDD** (required for telecommunications design authorship) - STC Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) - Adobe Certified Professional - ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus) - SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps **Work Location** - Austin, VA **Target Salary Range** - **$80,000 – $128,000** (typical range; final offer depends on experience, education, location, and contract/business factors).
