**Data Center - Systems Engineer - Mid** **About the Role** Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. You’ll help run enterprise and regional data centers, telecommunications spaces, and secure network connections that support systems used for claims processing, pharmacy fulfillment, appointment scheduling, and benefits delivery. **Key Responsibilities** - Configure, administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain data center compute and systems infrastructure (physical & virtual servers, storage, and supporting services) - Rack, cable, and decommission IT equipment following airflow, containment, and asset-disposal standards - Triage and resolve tickets in **ServiceNow** within response/resolution SLAs; escalate when required - Update **CMDB** and **DCIM** records to match physical and logical reality - Support planned changes, patch cycles, and after-hours cutovers **Qualifications** - Must currently possess or be able to obtain **VA Public Trust – High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4** background investigation - Bachelor’s in a technical field and **2+ years** of enterprise data center systems administration experience - Substitutions: - Master’s degree ≈ ~2 years of required experience - Ph.D. ≈ ~5 years of required experience - In lieu of a Bachelor’s: **4 additional years** of relevant experience acceptable (Associate’s + 2 additional years also accepted) - Hands-on experience with: - **Windows Server**, **Linux**, **VMware** - Structured cabling (**CAT6**, fiber) - Rack/stack work - Shiftwork may be required **Desired Skills / Tools / Processes** - **Tools:** Nlyte Asset Optimizer / Energy Optimizer (DCIM), ServiceNow (ITSM/CMDB), SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, PuTTY, Wireshark, PowerShell, Python, Power BI, MS Visio, SharePoint, **VMware vSphere** - **Processes/Frameworks:** ITIL v4, SAFe Agile/Scrum, NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, VA CRISP alignment, NFPA 70/70E, OSHA safety practices **Certifications (Desirable)** - CompTIA Server+ / Network+ / Security+ - Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator - Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE - VMware VCP-DCV - ServiceNow CSA - Nlyte Certified Administrator - ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus) - SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps **Work Location** - **Philadelphia, PA** **Target Salary Range** - **$66,000 – $106,000** (varies by experience, education, skills, and location; may include overtime/shift differential/discretionary bonus depending on position) **EEO** Equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veterans, or other characteristics protected by law.
