**Director, Data and Platform** We’re a healthcare technology company providing platforms and solutions that improve the management and access of cost-effective pharmacy benefits—helping enterprise partners simplify their businesses and helping consumers save on prescriptions. We’re adding a **Director of Data and Platform Architecture** to a small, high-leverage AI engineering team. This is a **hands-on, keyboard role** where you’ll own the full data architecture end to end and also lead **devops and infrastructure** for the AI engineering team. --- ## Position Summary - Own **data architecture end to end**: how data lands, how it moves through **ETL and transformation**, and how it reaches stakeholders via **extracts and dashboards**. - Own **devops and infrastructure** for the AI engineering team: decide how systems are built, deployed, and kept running. - Set architecture direction and **build it yourself**. - Lead the team from the start with **direct reports**, while staying close enough to the work to keep shipping code. --- ## Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Own **data architecture end to end** (ingestion → ETL/transformation → extracts → dashboards). - Own **devops and infrastructure** end to end; design platform architecture from ingestion through serving. - Set technical direction and standards for **data infrastructure, pipelines, ETL/transformation logic, and reliability**. - Design the **extract and reporting layer** so dashboards/analytics are accurate, timely, and trusted. - Build production-grade systems: **deployable, observable, stable**. - **Write and ship code** yourself. - Build and lead the data/platform team as it grows (hiring + day-to-day direction). - Mentor engineers on architecture, data design, devops, and/or platform thinking. - Communicate tradeoffs clearly to engineers, other architects, and leadership. - Partner with AI engineering leadership to align platform investments with product and research priorities. - Translate business/executive priorities into **data strategy and architecture decisions**. --- ## Education / Experience / Competencies - **8+ years** architecting and building platforms in production (not a hard cutoff). - Proven hands-on ownership of **data architecture end to end** (ingestion, ETL/transformation, extracts/reporting/BI). - Proven hands-on **devops experience**: build, deploy, and operate systems at production scale. - Track record of **writing and shipping production code**. - Depth across the modern data stack, including: - Distributed/big data processing (e.g., **Spark, Kafka**) - NoSQL/document stores (e.g., **MongoDB, DynamoDB**) - Warehousing (e.g., **Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery**) - High-throughput transactional DBs (e.g., **Postgres, MySQL**) with strong **PHI/PII** handling and detection - Hands-on devops tooling/practices: **GitOps**, **Kubernetes**, and **AWS (or equivalent)**. - Excellent communication and collaboration; can translate complex architecture into actionable decisions. - Experience mentoring engineers. - Experience leading a team (or readiness to take on direct reports). - Comfortable in a small, fast-moving team with multiple responsibilities. --- ## Bonus Qualifications - Experience architecting data platforms supporting **AI/ML workloads**. - Experience with **vector databases** (e.g., Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate). - Experience in **healthcare/pharmacy benefits** or another regulated data environment. - Experience building dat
