**Autonomy Platform Engineer — DoorDash Labs** **About the Team** DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last mile logistics in the long term. If you’re passionate about applying robotics solutions in a service used by millions of people, we want to talk to you. **About the Role** We’re hiring an **Autonomy Platform Engineer** to build and evolve the foundational software that runs our autonomy stack across robot and compute platforms. The Autonomy Platform team works across **embedded Linux, compute and sensor enablement, robotics middleware, process orchestration, data capture and replay, system observability, and performance**. You’ll develop production software and tooling that enables autonomy engineers to **bring up new hardware, deploy services reliably, diagnose failures, and validate system performance across robot generations**. You’ll collaborate closely with autonomy, firmware, electrical, hardware, manufacturing, and validation engineers, and report to the Autonomy Platform Lead. This role is **hybrid** (some time in-office, some time remote). **You’ll be excited about this opportunity because you will…** - Build and maintain core runtime, middleware, and platform services used by autonomy applications. - Enable new compute, camera, lidar, and other sensor platforms. - Improve process orchestration, messaging, configuration, startup/shutdown behavior, resource isolation, and fault recovery. - Develop system observability, tracing, performance measurement, diagnostics, and regression-detection capabilities. - Build reliable data capture, replay, and debugging workflows. - Create provisioning, packaging, deployment, integration-test, and platform-readiness tooling. - Lead complex debugging across application, middleware, OS, driver, networking, timing, and hardware boundaries. **We’re excited about you because you have…** - Strong **production C++ and Python** experience. - Experience with **embedded Linux, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or complex mechatronic systems**. - Solid understanding of several areas such as **operating systems, concurrency, networking, middleware, drivers, GPU acceleration, storage, or real-time performance**. - Experience debugging complex problems across multiple software and hardware layers. - Experience with **profiling, tracing, observability, automated testing, and CI**. - Familiarity with **Bazel, Git, and modern software-development practices**. - **ROS/ROS2** (or comparable robotics middleware) is preferred. - **Bonus:** Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams (software, controls, hardware) and communicating technical details across domains. **Compensation (US)** The national base pay ranges for this position within the United States (including Illinois and Colorado) are listed as: - **$137,400 – $202,000** - **$168,000 – $247,000** - **$198,600 – $292,000** In addition to base salary, compensation includes opportunities for **equity grants**. **About DoorDash** DoorDash’s mission empowers local economies.
