**Senior Security Engineer (Infrastructure)** Chainguard is the trusted source for open source—delivering hardened, secure, production-ready builds of the software engineers and AI agents rely on. We help organizations build faster, stay compliant, and eliminate risk. **The role in a nutshell** We’re looking for a **Senior Security Engineer** to engineer and secure our **multi-cloud environment**—the same cloud infrastructure that powers our product. You’ll report to the **Sr Director of Cyber Resiliency** and spend time embedded in project pods, working alongside product engineering partners. Priorities, tooling, and scope can shift quickly in a late-stage startup. **What you’ll do** - Engineer and maintain cloud environments built to be **secure, resilient, and performance-optimized** - Partner hands-on with internal engineering teams to embed security into the architecture and tooling developers use daily - Work with IAM counterparts to design and enforce **secure identity and access** strategies across all cloud environments - Harden cloud platforms against emerging threats while keeping them **resilient and highly available** - Lead **cloud-centric disaster recovery** exercises - Bring a **DevOps mindset**: build automation, pipelines, and guardrails using **Terraform/IaC** and **Kubernetes** - Help secure infrastructure behind **AI-driven pipelines and agentic workflows** as they consume more of the software supply chain - Act as a trusted advisor to product engineering—translating requirements into secure, practical infrastructure teams can adopt quickly - Adapt architecture and priorities as the company scales - Assist during relevant **incident response** investigations **What we’re looking for** - Outstanding **interpersonal and communication** skills - Strong, hands-on **GCP or AWS** engineering experience (required) - **Azure** experience is a plus - Solid **DevOps** background: comfortable with **Terraform/IaC**, **Kubernetes (GKE)**, and **CI/CD pipelines** - Track record designing systems that are **secure, resilient**, and accelerate engineering velocity - Comfort with **ambiguity and rapid change** (fast-moving/late-stage startup experience is a plus) **Compensation** - **Base Salary Range:** **$137,000 – $160,000 USD** **Benefits (highlights)** - **Flexible, Remote-First Culture** (remote work + meetup opportunities, destination summits, coworking/phone/internet stipend) - **Equity:** stock options upon hire/promotion; secondary offerings; **10 years** to exercise - **100% Covered Health Insurance** (medical, vision, dental for you and dependents) - **∞ Flexible Time Off** - **18 weeks paid parental leave** (birthing parents) / **12 weeks** (non-birthing parents) If your experience is close but doesn’t fulfill every requirement, please apply.
