**Senior Platform Engineer — Growth Product Engineering (Samsara)** **Who we are** Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud—helping organizations that depend on physical operations harness IoT data to deliver actionable insights and improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. **About the role** Samsara is looking for a **Senior Platform Engineer** to join **Growth Product & Engineering** and **own the platform** that growth and marketing teams build on. As the org moves toward **AI-assisted and agentic development**, the biggest bottleneck is increasingly **foundational infrastructure, security, and tooling**—and this role will be the owner. This is a **hands-on, high-leverage** position where you’ll design and operate the systems that make it safe and fast to ship—especially when AI agents are contributing code. **What you’ll do** - **Own the CI/CD foundation** for AI-assisted and agentic development: hardened pipeline gates, high test coverage, security scans, performance/cost regression guards, and progressive delivery with automated rollback. - Enable a **fast, safe inner loop** with **ephemeral per-PR environments**, local tooling, and isolated databases seeded with realistic data. - Build **centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting** across AWS so teams have visibility and bad deployments roll back automatically. - **Lead security engineering**: remediate vulnerabilities, establish secure-by-default patterns, and automate code scanning, secrets management, and access control. - Migrate hand-built AWS resources to **Infrastructure as Code**; separate production and pre-production accounts; stand up tested **backup & disaster recovery** with clear **RTO/RPO** targets. - Create **paved-path self-service tooling** and standardized release patterns (blue/green, canary, feature flags), while mentoring and role modeling Samsara’s culture. - Build and operate **AI agents for SRE work** (automated alert triage, incident investigation, safe self-healing remediation) to reduce on-call toil. - Contribute to **backend product development**—support customer-facing features alongside the platform. **Minimum requirements** - **6+ years** in software, infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or SRE. - Strong **hands-on AWS production** experience (IAM, Lambda, networking, multi-account organizations) and **Infrastructure as Code** (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation). - Experience designing/operating **CI/CD pipelines** (GitHub Actions, buildkite) with automated testing, static analysis, coverage enforcement, and safe release patterns (blue/green, canary, feature flags, reliable rollbacks). - Strong **Python** experience; familiarity with **JavaScript-based stacks**; experience with **containers/orchestration** (Docker with ECS/EKS/Kubernetes). - Cloud security posture management (e.g., Wiz, semgrep, synk, etc.). - Observability experience: centralized logging, metrics, tracing, alerting (e.g., Sentry, Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana). - Track record delivering measurable gains in reliability, security, or developer velocity—using AI-powered development tools in daily workflows. - Experience building **customer-facing product features**, not only internal tooling. **Open to candidates** US-based candidates **except** the **San Francisco Bay Metro Area**, **NYC Metro Area**, and **Washington, D.C.
