You’ll thrive if you’re mission-focused, enjoy solving complex problems at scale, and are energized by an environment where **AI is woven into how great engineers work every day**. --- **What You’ll Do** - **Own your services end-to-end** — from design and development to testing, operations, and production monitoring. - **Create and maintain** REST APIs (**Java/Spring**), customer-facing dashboards (**React**), and cloud infrastructure (**AWS**) powering the **Numbers** platform. - **Lead solutions from start to finish**, collaborating across teams to iteratively ship value aligned to customer and business needs. - **Identify and solve scaling problems** across application development and infrastructure optimization to ensure **high availability** and **fault tolerance**. - **Mentor junior and mid-level developers** through productive code reviews and thoughtful design discussions. - **Partner with product owners and stakeholders** to translate requirements into maintainable solutions (including feature sizing and technical roadmap discussions). - **Use AI as a core engineering tool**—daily—for code generation, design exploration, debugging, and documentation. - **Drive continuous improvement** by critically evaluating what we build and how we build it. --- **What You Need** You’re a great fit if you have: - **5+ years** building web services in a modern language (**Java strongly preferred**; **C#** or **Go** also welcome) - Experience building and deploying to the cloud, preferably **AWS** - Solid understanding of **network protocols, HTTP, and REST API design** - Experience designing and working with **distributed systems** - Experience with **relational and non-relational databases** - Experience with **scale, performance optimization**, and building for **fault tolerance** - Experience with **test automation** patterns and frameworks - A **continuous learning mindset**—the pace of change excites you - Genuine enthusiasm for **AI** (you follow the space, experiment, and have a point of view) - Active use of AI coding assistants (e.g., **GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude**, or similar) - A **4-year technical degree** or equivalent experience --- **Bonus Points** - Hands-on **AWS** experience (**ECS, EKS, API Gateway, S3, SQS, Lambda, Aurora**) - Some **front-end development** experience, preferably **React** - Experience with **messaging brokers** (**Kafka, ActiveMQ**) - Experience with **agentic coding frameworks** (e.g., Strands) in a professional context
