**Sr Data Center Engineer** **About the Role** Peraton supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mission by engineering, operating, and modernizing a nationwide data center portfolio. The team delivers enterprise and regional data centers, telecommunications spaces, and secure network connections that host systems Veterans depend on. **Responsibilities** - Lead complex data center engineering, modernization, capacity, resiliency, and infrastructure-optimization initiatives - Own technical outcomes for assigned engineering workstreams; guide junior engineers and provide design authority on reviews - Author reference designs and standards across power, cooling, cabling, and compute domains - Serve as a senior technical interface to VA stakeholders during design reviews, site assessments, and modernization planning **Qualifications** - Currently possess or be able to obtain **VA Public Trust – High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4** background investigation - **Bachelor’s degree** (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or related) and **8+ years** of data center engineering experience leading modernization/capacity work - Education substitutions (per Peraton framework): - Master’s degree substitutes ~2 years of required experience - Ph.D. substitutes ~5 years of required experience - In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree: 4 additional years of relevant experience acceptable (Associate’s + 2 additional years also accepted) **Desired Skills, Tools & Certifications** **Tools** - DCIM / monitoring & management: Nlyte Asset Optimizer / Energy Optimizer - Service management: ServiceNow (ITSM/CMDB) - Monitoring: SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG - Networking/analysis: PuTTY, Wireshark - Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Python - Analytics/visualization: Power BI - Documentation: MS Visio, SharePoint - Additional familiarity: AutoCAD, TileFlow **Processes / Standards** - ITIL v4, SAFe Agile / Scrum - NIST 800-53 / RMF, ISO 27001 - TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9 - VA CRISP alignment - NFPA 70 / 70E, OSHA safety practices - TIA-942, VA Handbook 7002 **Certifications (desirable)** - PE (Electrical or Mechanical) - BICSI RCDD - Uptime Institute ATD/ATS - EPI CDCP/CDCS/CDCE - LEED AP, CEM - ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus) - SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps **Work Location** - Austin, TX **Peraton Overview** Peraton is a next-generation national security company delivering trusted solutions and enterprise IT capabilities for critical government missions.
