**Astranis — Software Engineer Backend Intern (Summer 2027)** Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks for highly-sophisticated customers worldwide. With satellites on orbit and more launching soon, the company is servicing a backlog of $1B+ in commercial contracts. As a **Software Engineer Intern on the Platform team**, you’ll design and build services that autonomously control satellites, monitor telemetry for anomalies, and provide real-time situational awareness to keep the fleet safe and online. You’ll also build core components and services that power the rest of the software organization. Internships at Astranis typically last **twelve weeks** and are **hourly roles** for students currently enrolled at a **four-year university**. If you’ve already graduated, apply for an **Associate Engineer** role. --- ### Role - Design and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software used to send commands to space - Take full ownership of features, working across backend and infrastructure - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs ### Requirements - Currently pursuing a **B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science** (or equivalent) - Strong proficiency in **Python** - Experience and understanding of **databases** (e.g., **Postgres**) - Experience and understanding of **pub/sub and streaming systems** (e.g., **RabbitMQ**, **Flink**) ### Bonus - Experience with **Kubernetes** - Experience building **fleet management systems** --- ### Pay - **$29.00/hour (base hourly pay)** ### Eligibility - **U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required** ### Additional Notes - Astranis is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages applicants from all backgrounds.
