**Software Developer - Space Domain** **Location:** Colorado Springs, CO (GovCloud) **Overview** Peraton is seeking a **Software Developer** to support a customer in Colorado Springs, CO, for the **Space Weather Analysis Forecasting Service (SWAFS) GovCloud solution**. This role is ideal for an experienced, self-sufficient developer with strong hands-on coding skills and exposure to software architecture concepts. --- ## Responsibilities - Contribute to the **design and documentation of software architecture** for SWAFS GovCloud (system components, data flows, integration patterns) - Translate **high-level engineering and mission requirements** into actionable architectural designs and development artifacts - Collaborate with **Senior Architects, Chief Systems Engineers, and Product Owners** to align designs with program objectives - Decompose architectural requirements into **development stories** and **sprint-level tasks** - Participate in the full software development lifecycle: **definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and deployment** - Write and review application code primarily in **Java**; support developers with **coding standards** and **architectural patterns** - Establish and promote **design guidelines, best practices, and coding standards** - Evaluate and recommend **frameworks, tools, and technologies** to meet system requirements - Perform **peer code and design reviews** and provide constructive technical feedback - Support **REST API design** and **data/service integration architecture** feeding into SaaS applications - Contribute to **CI/CD pipeline design** and **DevSecOps** best practices - Assist in defining structured practices in **source code management** and **build/release management** - Produce clear architectural documentation, **ADRs (Architecture Decision Records)**, and technical specifications - Support customer-facing technical presentations of architecture and system functionality --- ## Qualifications **Required** - Associate’s degree + **7+ years** relevant software development experience, **or** - Bachelor’s degree (CS/SE/related) + **5+ years**, **or** - Master’s degree + **3+ years** - Additional **4 years** relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree - **3+ years** progressive software development experience - Strong knowledge of software design principles, development best practices, and applicable frameworks - Demonstrated experience developing with **Java** - Experience with **Spring** and **Spring Kafka** (or comparable event-driven messaging) - Experience using **GitLab** for source control and/or CI/CD - Hands-on experience developing and executing **software test plans/procedures/cases** - Experience supporting deployments to **high-side / restricted-access environments** - Experience troubleshooting, monitoring, and supporting software in operational environments - Experience documenting, tracking, and resolving defects/bugs - Experience supporting software demonstrations, technical reviews, or customer-facing events - **Security Clearance:** Must possess a minimum **Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility** and maintain the clearance **Desired** - **Active TS/SCI clearance** - Strong communication and collaboration skills across a larger Software Architecture team - Experience in a **Software Architect / IT Systems Architect** role (plus, not required) - Recent experience supporting **U.S. Space Force**, **DoD**, space systems, satellites, or similarl
