**Role Overview** The Search AI Product Engineering group is Coupang’s advanced product machine learning team. It keeps Coupang at the forefront of machine learning technology across multiple application areas including content understanding, recommendation, ranking, and more. This is a high-impact applied team that brings ML technology directly into product in collaboration with product engineering teams—driving top-line metrics for wowing customers and growing the business. **What You Will Do** - Drive end-to-end Computer Vision and Machine Learning methods with high ambiguity, scale, and complexity - Build ML models, run proof-of-concepts, experiment, optimize, and deploy into production - Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for data analysis, model development, validation, and serving - Run A/B experiments, gather data, and perform statistical analysis to generate insights that shape product requirements - Research new and innovative Computer Vision approaches with direct business impact - Present results and explain methods to leadership - Mentor junior engineers and partner teams; help uplift ML talent across the company **Basic Qualifications** - 6+ years of experience building large-scale ML-driven user-facing products - Extensive knowledge of deep learning and computer vision techniques - Experience with state-of-the-art ML modeling approaches (e.g., transformers, self-supervised pre-training, generative modeling, LLMs) - Hands-on experience training and applying models at scale using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow - Proficient coding skills in Java, C++, or Python - Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related fields **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience working on backend and ML systems for large-scale user-facing products, with strong understanding of how they work together - Experience collaborating with other engineering teams to ship ML technologies that improve recommendation, content understanding, and ranking systems at scale - Self-motivated, curious, creative, and able to take initiative to achieve goals **Pay & Benefits (Summary)** - Base pay range: **$174,000/year to $299,000/year** (varies by market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience) - Benefits include: Medical/Dental/Vision/Life, FSA/HSA, disability coverage, EAP, 401(k) match, paid time off (18–21 days based on tenure), public holidays, paid parental leave, and commuter benefits **Recruitment Process (Summary)** - Application Review → Phone Interview → Onsite (or Virtual Onsite) Interview → Offer - The exact process may vary by role and scheduling **Details to Consider** - Posting may close early if all openings are filled - Offer may be rescinded for false information - Equal opportunity employer **Job Requisition ID**: **R0077659**
