## About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. ## About the role Anthropic’s **Business Technology Engineering** team builds the systems the company runs on. You’ll lead an engineering organization across two tracks: - **Platforms**: builds and operates the shared systems the company depends on. - **Forward Deployed**: embeds with business functions, proves Claude wins on real workflows, hands off, and moves on. You’ll partner on defining the roadmap, build relationships with functional leaders, grow the team, and shape what forward deployed engineering looks like inside a frontier AI lab. You’ll report to the **Head of Business Technology and IT** within the **Security** organization, and work closely with IT Engineering, Security Engineering, Labs and Product, GTM, and leaders across Legal, Workplace, Communications, Product Operations, and Product Support. ## Responsibilities - Lead and scale a global org of engineers (hire, level, and develop engineering leads). - Partner to develop and execute a year-plus roadmap for how business functions work with Claude, including success metrics. - Run **Platforms**: reliability, velocity, and scale of Claude Support and the platform layer used by every employee. - Run **Forward Deployed**: engagement portfolio, prioritization across functions, durable handoffs, and adoption that drives real change. - Serve as a technical executive partner to leaders across Legal, Workplace, Comms, Product Ops, and Product Support—advocating for ambitious deployment while defining boundaries. - Partner with Labs and Product on dogfooding: feed back load-bearing signals (e.g., evals showing gaps) and ship internal builds that become external product patterns. - Represent how Anthropic runs internally to Enterprise customers alongside GTM. - Set the engineering bar: production-adjacent builds, eval rigor, reusable patterns, and responsible internal deployment with real data and permissions. ## You may be a good fit if you - Have **12+ years** in software engineering and **6+ years** leading engineers, including at least **3 years managing managers** and an org of **20+** across multiple domains you structured. - Have run internal tools/business systems/platform engineering at a company that added functions faster than it added engineers, and can speak to reliability (platform) and adoption (embedded) outcomes. - Lead through technical judgment—able to move from agent architecture to eval design to failure modes, improving builds through strong reviews. - Can guide senior stakeholders (e.g., General Counsel, Head of Workplace, senior engineers) through trade-offs and drive decisions they’ll commit to. - Maintain a high bar on craft while saying no to low-leverage work (and explaining the rationale). - Want real ownership of how a frontier AI lab runs itself on its own models—responsibly, with real data, permissions, and real people impacted. ## Strong candidates may also have - Forward deployed, software engineering, or applied AI leadership experience with external customers. - Product management experience or a track record partnering closely with PMs and analysts. - Experience scaling corporate systems (e.g., Salesforce, Workday, Google Workspace, Slack). - Experience building career rubrics/leveling frameworks or standing up a forward deployed function from zero. ## Compensation **Annual Salary:** **$405,0
