## Linux Systems Administrator ### Responsibilities - Support mission-critical operations for secure Linux-based environments (servers and desktops) - Perform **continuous monitoring** using vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., **Tenable Nessus**) - Identify, analyze, and mitigate vulnerabilities from weekly/monthly scans (patches, security updates, and configuration changes) - Track, document, and report remediation activities to maintain compliance with **RMF** / Intelligence Community standards - Deploy, configure, maintain, and secure Linux systems (e.g., **RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu**) - Configure and maintain networking services such as **DNS, DHCP, and NFS** - Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication in accordance with security policies - Harden systems using **STIGs** and/or custom security configurations - Apply and test kernel updates, package upgrades, and security patches in production and development environments - Monitor systems for performance, security, and availability; resolve issues proactively - Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration and deployment - Maintain detailed documentation and support security audits ### Qualifications **Required** - **Active TS eligibility for SCI** (5 years with BS/BA or 3 years with MS/MA in Computer Science, IT, or related field) - **3–5+ years** experience managing Linux environments in classified, secure settings - Proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat) - Understanding of system security requirements in DoD/Intelligence environments (e.g., **STIGs, RMF**) **Preferred / Bonus** - Experience in **SAP** environments - Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., **KVM, Red Hat, Proxmox**) - Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., **Ansible, Puppet, Chef**) - Knowledge of containerization (**Docker, Kubernetes**) - Shell scripting/automation experience (e.g., **Bash, Python**) - Ability to automate patching and vulnerability remediation (e.g., **Ansible/Puppet/Chef**) **Certifications (preferred)** - **RHCSA**, **ITIL**, or equivalent ### Peraton Overview Peraton is a national security company delivering trusted mission capabilities and enterprise IT solutions for government agencies and the U.S. armed forces. ### Target Salary Range **$112,000 – $179,000** (varies by experience, education, location, and contract considerations).
