## Senior Backend Engineer II — IPC (Implementation & Platform Configuration) ### About Bestow Bestow is a vertical technology platform powering modern life insurance. We unify a fragmented, legacy value chain so carriers can launch products in **weeks instead of years**—powered by **AI and automation**. ### About the Team (IPC) The **IPC (Implementation & Platform Configuration) Engineering** team powers the digital life insurance enrollment experience that Bestow’s carrier partners rely on. You’ll build and operate **modular backend services** (Python, Go, Java) at the core of Bestow’s platform, integrating across the service landscape via **gRPC, REST, async messaging**, running on **Kubernetes in GCP**. ### What You’ll Do - Contribute to **technical design decisions** for IPC services, balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability - Design, build, and operate backend services using **Python + PostgreSQL** and **Go/Java** (including a **Drools rules engine**) - Partner with other engineering teams on **platform integration** work - Help build platform capabilities that scale with Bestow’s growing partner ecosystem (e.g., **new carrier onboardings**, **product launches**, **config flexibility**) - Mentor engineers through **code review, design review, and pairing** - Support **production reliability**: maintain/improve **SLOs**, strengthen **observability**, and share **on-call** for IPC workloads - Use **agentic AI coding tools** as a core part of the workflow and help the team adopt effective AI-assisted dev practices - Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and status clearly in writing ### Who You Are - **5+ years** of professional backend software development experience at a senior level - Strong proficiency in **Go** and **Python** (Java experience a plus) - Solid experience with **distributed systems**, **microservices**, and **API design** (Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI) - Comfortable working with **PostgreSQL** (or other relational DBs) at scale - Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience: **Kubernetes, Docker, GCP** (or equivalent) - Proven ability to build, deploy, and troubleshoot production services end-to-end - Proactive problem-solving mindset—identify risks early and drive to completion - Write maintainable, well-tested software and hold a high quality bar for yourself and others - Demonstrated experience using **agentic AI coding tools** (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in daily workflow ### Total Rewards (Highlights) - Competitive salary and **equity** - Flexible **remote/hybrid** work options - **100% paid-premium** medical, dental, and vision insurance - Lifestyle stipend - Flexible paid time off and parental leave programs - Office option in **Dallas (Deep Ellum)** ### E-Verify Bestow uses **E-Verify** to confirm employment eligibility for newly hired employees.
