**About Helios** Helios is SingleStore’s fully managed cloud database service. The team builds cloud-native services that create, manage, scale, monitor, and protect customer workspaces and databases across major cloud providers. Helios engineers work across the control plane, data plane, reliability, observability, developer tooling, and customer-facing cloud experiences—partnering closely with Database Engine, Infrastructure, Security, Developer Experience, and Product teams. **About the Role** As a University Graduate Software Engineer on Helios, you’ll work with experienced engineers to design, implement, test, and operate production-quality cloud software. You’ll own well-scoped projects, contribute to technical discussions, and learn how large-scale distributed services are built and operated. **Your work may include:** - Developing services that support the lifecycle of customer workspaces and databases - Building automation for provisioning, scaling, upgrades, backups, and recovery - Improving service reliability, availability, observability, and operational efficiency - Designing APIs and backend systems for cloud database management - Investigating and resolving performance, scalability, and correctness issues - Writing production code, tests, documentation, and technical designs - Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners Projects are delivered through regular release cycles, so you can see your work move from design to production and directly impact how customers use SingleStore. **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (completed or expected by the start date) - Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design - Programming experience in Go, Java, Python, C++, or a similar language - Understanding of distributed systems, operating systems, networking, or databases - Familiarity with Linux or Unix-based systems - Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and solve complex technical problems - Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** - Coursework or project experience in distributed systems, cloud computing, databases, networking, or operating systems - Experience building backend services, APIs, or automation - Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, or public cloud platforms - Experience with observability, monitoring, debugging, or performance analysis - Experience contributing to production software or substantial technical projects - Interest in reliability engineering and operating services at scale **What You’ll Gain** - Mentorship from experienced cloud and distributed-systems engineers - Hands-on experience building and operating production cloud services - Exposure to database systems, cloud infrastructure, reliability, and large-scale automation - Opportunities to collaborate across engineering and product teams - A supportive environment focused on technical growth and meaningful ownership SingleStore values individuals with diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives and is committed to building inclusive, collaborative teams.
