**Sr. Deployment Strategist, FDE - Manufacturing & High-Tech** **About the Team** The FDE (Forward Deployed Engineering) team is a new, strategic initiative sponsored from the CEO and Founders down. Our mission is to win C-suite-sponsored, high-value AI opportunities by selling and delivering *outcomes*, not just a platform. You’ll be part of the founding team—embedded with our most strategic customers from the very first sales call through a production-ready solution. You’ll act as the “product manager” for the customer’s problem (owning the *why* and *what*), while our FDEs (Engineers) partner with you on the *how*. **Role Description** As a Deployment Strategist (DS), you’re the critical bridge between a customer’s multi-million-dollar business problem and Databricks’ technical solution. You’ll own the technical and product direction of the engagement—from initial discovery through production launch and adoption. You’ll build C-suite trust, perform deep discovery to map the customer’s political and technical landscape, and scope the value. You’ll define the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for a pilot, write the PRD that guides the engineering team, and manage the project to a successful landing. You’ll also lead technical discovery, shape solution architecture with FDEs, and ensure proposed solutions can move from prototype to production. **The impact you will have** - **C-Suite Scoping & Value Definition:** Partner with Sales to perform deep discovery, map the customer’s organization, quantify the business value of $10M+ problems, and define the pilot (MVP, success criteria, timeline). - **End-to-End Product Ownership:** Author the PRD, prioritize the engineering backlog, manage scope, and serve as the primary hands-on QA tester. Translate business requirements into clear data, integration, security, and operational requirements. - **Technical Solution Leadership & Delivery:** Drive the FDE build team through agile delivery, manage stakeholders from C-suite to individual engineers, unblock issues, lead technical discovery and design reviews, pressure-test architecture choices, and identify technical risks early. - **Solution Launch & Landing:** Own the “Day 0” launch, manage the war room, drive launch to full adoption by capturing feedback and iterating, and ensure production readiness across data quality, testing, security, performance, and operations. - **Strategic Handoff & Growth:** Scope ongoing maintenance, create customer documentation/training, identify next high-value engagements, codify reusable solution patterns, and bring field insights back to Product and Engineering. **What we look for** - **Executive Presence & Communication:** Trusted advisor with strong executive presence and excellent communication; builds rapport quickly and helps senior stakeholders make difficult decisions. - **Product Judgment & Delivery:** Defines what to build and why; writes strong product requirements; prioritizes engineering work; manages scope; leads complex agile projects from ambiguity to measurable outcomes. - **Technical Fluency & Architecture Judgment:** Understands modern data and AI architectures (cloud, pipelines, models, distributed systems, APIs, security/governance, ML, and generative AI patterns). Leads architecture discussions and evaluates trade-offs. - **Hands-on Technical Ability:** Proficient in at least one of Python, Java, or SQL.
