**Mid-level Linux Systems Administrator (Active Top Secret / SCI)** **Location:** Washington, DC --- ## Responsibilities - Perform assessments of systems, reviewing software to find flaws and recommend improvements - Conduct code examination, analysis, and testing - Work with system simulators and statistical analysis (as needed) - Review and analyze systems, platforms, applications, and interfaces to quickly build system knowledge - Identify hardware and software components for safety- and mission-critical functionality - Evaluate embedded software to verify requirements are correctly implemented and that code does not introduce embedded safety hazards - Identify requirements, design, and test procedures to ensure the system performs as expected - Document analysis results, including identified anomalies - Present findings to peers, customers, and management --- ## Qualifications **Minimum Requirements** - Bachelor’s degree and **5+ years** of experience (or **4 additional years** in lieu of a bachelor’s degree) - **3+ years** administering and supporting Linux systems in production environments - Strong hands-on experience with **Ubuntu Linux** - Solid understanding of Linux system administration concepts - Proficiency with the **Linux command line** and common shell utilities - Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across operating systems - Working knowledge of **TCP/IP**, **DNS**, **DHCP**, **HTTP/HTTPS**, **SSH**, routing, firewalls, and common network troubleshooting tools - Experience administering and troubleshooting servers in **virtualized or cloud** environments - Experience with **monitoring, logging, alerting**, and diagnosing system health/performance issues - Understanding of system security fundamentals (patch management, access controls, SSH security, vulnerability remediation) - Ability to clearly document infrastructure, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes - **U.S. citizenship required** - **Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility** and ability to obtain a **polygraph** **Preferred / Nice to Have** - Experience with **Docker** and containerized applications - Experience with **Ansible** or other configuration management/automation tools - Experience writing **Bash** (or other shell scripts) for administration and automation - Experience with **Infrastructure as Code** tools such as **Terraform** - Familiarity with **CI/CD** concepts and tools - Experience with **AWS** - Experience administering web servers/reverse proxies (e.g., **Nginx**) and application infrastructure - Familiarity with databases and troubleshooting application/database connectivity - Familiarity with centralized logging/monitoring platforms (e.g., **Grafana**, **ELK**) - Scripting/automation experience with **Python** - Exposure to high-availability, load balancing, and scalable infrastructure concepts --- ## Compensation **Target Salary Range:** **$104,000 – $166,000** Salary depends on factors including scope/responsibilities, experience, education, knowledge/skills, and geographic/business contract considerations.
