## Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) ### Responsibilities - Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the organization’s security posture across information systems, networks, applications, and data. - Evaluate, maintain, and improve security controls, architectures, and solutions across systems, networks, endpoints, and AWS cloud environments. - Perform risk and vulnerability assessments based on controls and security architecture reviews. - Document and maintain cybersecurity standards, procedures, and system security plans. - Collaborate with IT, engineering, development, and business teams to embed security into system design and operations (DevSecOps practices). - Evaluate emerging threats, technologies, and security solutions; recommend improvements to the security program. - Provide security guidance and awareness support to technical and nontechnical stakeholders. - Support continuous monitoring, metrics reporting, and security posture improvement initiatives. ### Qualifications - **Required:** TS/SCI with relevant polygraph. - **Education/Experience:** - BA/BS and **12+ years** of experience, **or** - Master’s and **10+ years** of experience, **or** - Additional **four years** of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. - At least **3 years** hands-on experience in information systems security / cybersecurity engineering (in the customer environment as an ISSE). - Working knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., **NIST SP 800-53**, **NIST Cybersecurity Framework**, **ISO 27001**, **CIS Controls**). - Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, IAM, encryption, and network security controls. - Proficiency assessing and securing operating systems (**Windows, Linux**), networks, cloud environments (**AWS, Azure, or GCP**), and applications. ### Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Relevant certifications (e.g., **CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH, GIAC**; or cloud security certifications such as **CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer**). - Agile software development experience (e.g., **Jira**). - Hands-on scripting/automation for security tooling and processes (**Python, PowerShell, Bash**). - Experience supporting compliance audits / regulatory frameworks. - Experience in incident response, forensic analysis, or SOC environments. - Knowledge of **zero trust** architecture principles and modern identity/security architectures. ### Company Overview (Peraton) Peraton is a next-generation national security company and enterprise IT provider delivering trusted solutions to protect national missions across domains including land, sea, space, air, and cyberspace. ### Target Salary Range - **$146,000 – $234,000** (typical range) - Salary varies based on factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, competencies, geographic location, and contract considerations. - Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. ### Equal Employment Opportunity Peraton is an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veterans, or other characteristics protected by law.
