## Director of AI/ML ### About the Role Bayesian Health is an early-stage startup on a mission to make healthcare proactive by empowering physicians, nurses, and care teams with real-time data to save lives. As **Director of AI/ML**, you’ll set the technical vision and strategy for the AI/ML organization, build and lead a high-performing team, and stay hands-on with critical modeling and production work. ### What You’ll Do - **Lead & scale the team:** Build, mentor, and grow a world-class AI/ML organization with strong technical standards, career development, and a culture of ownership. - **Own the ML roadmap & infrastructure:** Partner with Engineering to architect scalable data warehousing, ML infrastructure, and data pipelines for rapid prototyping and reliable production deployment. - **Hands-on modeling & evaluation:** Prototype models, evaluate system performance, and debug production issues to ensure measurable clinical impact. - **Cross-functional partnership:** Translate clinical workflows into ML opportunities and communicate model performance and impact to technical and non-technical stakeholders. ### Responsibilities - Team leadership and technical standards - ML roadmap execution and infrastructure planning - Modeling, evaluation, and analysis for high-quality ML systems - Collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Clinical; stakeholder communication ### Minimum Qualifications - **Ph.D.** in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field - **8+ years** shipping ML products; **3+ years** leading ML teams at early-stage startups - Proven experience scaling data science/ML engineering teams in scrappy, resource-constrained environments - Deep expertise in production ML systems and data infrastructure (data warehousing, real-time prediction, monitoring, performance evaluation) - Experience in healthcare or similarly regulated, high-stakes environments ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience leading **0–1** ML product development in healthcare/clinical settings - Hands-on experience with **HL7, FHIR, EHR** and healthcare ML challenges (data quality, time-series forecasting, anomaly detection) - Background in data platform architecture (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift; streaming systems; ML infrastructure tools) - Track record of publishing/speaking/contributing to the ML community while delivering business results ### Equal Employment Opportunity Bayesian Health provides equal employment opportunities and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type.
