We also recently published research in **Nature Medicine** linking our products to lives saved. ### What You’ll Do As a Senior/Staff Machine Learning Data Scientist, you’ll go beyond training and tuning models—you’ll **own model effectiveness in the real world**. You’ll work cross-functionally with **Clinical, Engineering, and Product** to clarify and prioritize specifications for life-saving AI models. In practice, you may: - Write data mapping code - Debug specific patient cases by following patient data through **AWS services** - Improve the **timeliness** of model predictions using production-grade **Python** and **SQL** ### Responsibilities - **Model Prototyping:** Develop and tune innovative ML models and labeler systems using deep clinical understanding and state-of-the-art ML methods - **Productionizing:** Build the same models you develop with **production-grade Python** - **Deploying:** Identify strategies to improve production ML systems; write, debug, and deploy production-grade Python code - **Cross-Functional Alignment:** Communicate model performance and metrics to technical and non-technical stakeholders (internally and externally) ### Minimum Qualifications - **Ph.D.** in a relevant field + **3+ years** experience shipping ML-based software products - Experience owning ML models from **prototyping to production**, especially **real-time** algorithms that update dynamically over time - Experience writing **production-grade Python and SQL** to implement and evaluate ML models in production systems - Track record using **statistics and performance metrics** to compare end-to-end ML and product performance ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience shipping breakthrough / **0–1** products end-to-end - Experience working with messy clinical/health data to design products for large health systems - Experience with one or more of: **PyTorch, PySpark, HL7, FHIR, EHR, time series data, signal processing, MLflow, anomaly detection, Bayesian statistics, quantile regression, time-series forecasting** - Passion for getting things done and saving lives ### Equal Opportunity Bayesian Health provides equal employment opportunities and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type.
