The platform combines curated fund and co-investment opportunities with institutional-grade infrastructure—delivering a single, data-rich experience across venture capital, private equity, private credit, and other private asset classes, supported by tracking, analytics, and administration tools. ### About the Role Allocate is looking to add a **Senior Software Engineer II — Backend** to the team. You’ll help build the technical foundation for the company’s future, working across a broad set of backend responsibilities. ### Essential Responsibilities - Design and implement new features and endpoints in backend APIs - Design and implement schema changes to support new features - Participate in an Agile-based development environment - Work as part of an independent, cross-functional squad to deliver critical platform features - Build high-quality, scalable, and testable code to drive engineering maturity and efficiency ### Must-Have Experience - **5+ years** of object-oriented software engineering experience (e.g., **C#, Java**) - **5+ years** with **SQL-based databases** (e.g., **Postgres**) - Ability to design performant database schemas (e.g., when/where to add indexes) - **3+ years C#** experience - **2+ years** developing **REST APIs** - Proficiency with **Git** and version control - Hands-on experience with **AI-assisted development tools** (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor) and the ability to continuously evaluate and incorporate new tools ### Nice to Haves - **ASP.NET Web API** experience - Familiarity with ORM concepts (e.g., **Dapper**, **Entity Framework**) - Familiarity with **FluentMigrator** - **Docker / Docker Compose** experience - **AWS ECS/EKS** experience ### Education - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience ### Essential Values & Culture - **World-class client experience**: extraordinary response times, proactivity, and top-tier communication - **Challenge convention**: question assumptions and focus on viable execution - **Continuous improvement**: keep pushing your learning curve - **Meritocracy, not politics**: results and rewards through merit - **Civil discourse**: open, intellectually curious conversations; respect and collective correctness - **Embrace technological change**: adopt tools/tech (including AI/automation) and drop outdated methods ### Additional Details - **Location:** Fully Remote (All I-9 eligible candidates will be considered) - **Employment:** Full-time - **Seniority:** Mid-level professional - **Compensation:** Expected base salary **$145,000–$175,000** (plus a discretionary performance-based bonus) - **Benefits:** Medical, dental, vision; 401(k); responsible PTO - **Travel:** Required for team/department offsites - **Interview:** In-person interview may be required - **Requirements:** Broadband internet connection - **Compliance:** Must adhere to Allocate’s Code of Ethics
