**Senior Software Engineer — (Contractor, LATAM)** **Orchid Software Solutions (via client team)** is hiring a **Senior Software Engineer** to join one of our client engineering teams. ## About the Role - Work as a true partner alongside the client’s current senior engineer. - **Daily client interaction** (standups, status updates, and scoping conversations). - **Own delivery end-to-end**—partner on planning, building, and shipping. - **No dedicated PM layer** on this account: you’ll flag risk and communicate timelines proactively. - **Fast ramp-up required** (limited tolerance for long onboarding). ## What You’ll Do - Partner with the senior engineer to plan, build, and ship. - Work directly with the client team daily (standups, status updates, scoping). - Own your work end-to-end, including risk identification and timeline communication. ## What We’re Looking For - **Senior, hands-on** engineer (not junior/mid-level stretching into senior). - **Backend:** Python + Flask, including **SQLAlchemy (or comparable ORM)** and relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB). - **Frontend (server-rendered):** Jinja2 templates, Bootstrap, JavaScript/jQuery, Webpack. - Note: **not** a modern SPA (no React/Vue-style codebase). - **Must-have:** hands-on REST/API integrations. - **Fluent English** (spoken + written) — daily client-facing communication. - Preferred: experience in consulting/professional services/client-facing agency environments. - Comfortable working as a peer/partner to another senior engineer (some PM instincts expected: scope tracking, risk flagging, driving status). - Fast learning curve: ramp into an existing codebase + client relationship quickly. ## Nice to Have - Insurance, risk, or fintech domain experience. - Experience working in a **two-person senior “tandem”** model. - Comfort picking up custom in-house packages and internal tooling. ## Engagement & Location - **Independent Contractor** - **Location:** Latin America (Remote) - **Employment type:** Full-time ## Compensation - **$70,000–$80,000 USD/year (DOE)** ## Apply Apply through the career page for this role.
