**Manager II, Software Engineering, Infrastructure — Core Infrastructure (Remote, US)** **Who we are** Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud—helping organizations that depend on physical operations use IoT data to create actionable insights and improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. **About the role** Samsara is seeking an experienced **Engineering Manager** to lead the **Core Infrastructure** team. This team builds and operates the foundational compute, networking, storage, and cloud systems behind Samsara’s products—central to the platform’s availability, scalability, security, and efficiency. This role combines technical and people leadership to evolve infrastructure at scale, supporting a platform that processes **25+ trillion data points annually**. You’ll guide infrastructure strategy and modernization, improve reliability and operational health, and enable product teams to move faster through automation and self-service. **You should apply if:** - You want to impact the industries that run our world - You’re a life-long learner with a growth mindset - You believe customers are more than a number (and enjoy close end-user collaboration) - You’re a team player—building and winning together **In this role, you will:** - Lead, coach, and develop a globally distributed Core Infrastructure team (raising performance and creating leverage through senior ICs and technical leads) - Own technical strategy and translate it into an integrated roadmap across compute, networking, storage, infrastructure control planes, reliability, and cloud efficiency - Improve operational health via capacity management, failure isolation, observability, safe rollouts, incident learning, and sustainable on-call practices - Build paved paths, automation, and self-service infrastructure to help engineering teams move faster, safely, and reliably - Apply AI-enabled tools and workflows to improve execution, operational analysis, and reduce toil - Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally - Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, high-performing team **Minimum requirements:** - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - **8+ years** relevant software engineering experience, including **2+ years** directly managing software or infrastructure engineers - Experience leading and raising performance of an established engineering team - Strong technical background in production infrastructure, cloud platforms, or distributed systems at scale - Track record leading complex technical initiatives and translating strategy into measurable results - Strong communication and technical judgment; ability to align across teams **Ideal candidate also has:** - Experience leading infrastructure for a large-scale cloud or distributed platform - Experience with multi-region public cloud, container orchestration, and declarative infrastructure - Led major modernization, reliability, disaster-recovery, or cloud-efficiency initiatives - Experience leading globally distributed teams - Practical experience using AI-enabled tools to improve engineering effectiveness **Compensation (Annual Base Salary)** - **$154,700 — $260,000 USD** **Total Rewards & Benefits** Base salary plus performance-based bonus/variable pay and equity (for eligible roles), along with a flexible, employee-led remote model, professional development stipend, and comprehensive health and parental leave plans.
