This role is remote-friendly, with a flexible first workforce. **Team & Mission** The Data Movement team is looking for a Software Engineer excited to solve large-scale data platform and efficiency challenges. Reddit’s community of users generates 100B+ events per day, which are ingested into a data warehouse used for 55,000+ daily queries. The Data Platform enables both batch and streaming ML and BI workloads that support critical teams such as ads, feed generation, and ML experimentation. **What you’ll do** - Refine and maintain data infrastructure technologies to support ML and analytics workflows on data collected from hundreds of millions of users. - Own the Data Movement Platform used to enable batch and stream data processing at Reddit. - Build new infrastructure for Spark, Flink, and Airflow, including contributing to the open source community as needed. - Create automated solutions to minimize toil for data users and provide a declarative, self-service experience for working with data. - Collaborate with teammates to share on-call responsibilities and support monitoring/alerting to improve reliability, scalability, latency, and efficiency. **Who you might be** - 2+ years of software engineering experience in production, writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. - Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Python, Scala, Go, or Java. - Experience designing and implementing large-scale systems, proactively leading across diverse projects, and monitoring progress. - Experience with cloud services and tools such as Airflow, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Spark, and/or Flink. - Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a service-oriented team and the broader organization. **Benefits (Highlights)** - Comprehensive healthcare benefits and income replacement programs - 401k with employer match - Global benefit programs (workspace, professional development, caregiving support) - Family planning support - Gender-affirming care - Mental health & coaching benefits - Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off - Generous paid parental leave **Pay Transparency (US)** - Base salary range: **$164,200 – $229,900 USD** - In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for equity (RSUs) and, depending on position, commission. **Interview Privacy Note** In select roles and locations, interviews may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized using AI.
