About this role

**About Waymo** Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver. Since starting as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can be applied across a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. **Role Overview** In this hybrid role, you will report to an **Head of Vendor Enablement Office**. Waymo’s Technical Program Managers and Program Managers drive roadmap execution through cross-functional planning, clarity, and proactive risk management—especially in complex technical and operational environments without established playbooks. **You will:** - **Access Management:** Own current end-to-end processes and workflows for tooling and access management across the Global Extended Workforce. - **Write Code & Develop Tooling Requirements:** Partner with Engineering to develop applications, scripts, and custom tooling on top of existing access systems to simplify access paths and improve operational efficiency. - **Mitigate Access Risk:** Lead proactive risk-reduction initiatives. Audit, design, and enforce strict **least privilege** models to prevent over-provisioning. - **Program Lifecycle Management:** Deliver simplified future-state access management programs for the Global Extended Workforce, defining milestones, ownership, and technical dependencies. - **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work with Engineers, Tool Owners, Cybersecurity, and Business Leadership to translate security standards into frictionless technical workflows, develop access policies, and educate on best practices. - **System Automation:** Use strong technical judgment to replace manual access-management bottlenecks with scalable, automated engineering solutions—leveraging an **AI-first** approach. **You have:** - **Engineering & Coding Skills:** Ability to audit code-managed configurations and update them to reflect required access changes and policy tweaks. Comfort building requirements for internal access tools, processes, and workflow automation. - **IAM Expertise:** Deep technical understanding of enterprise Identity Access Management frameworks (e.g., Okta, SailPoint, Google Cloud IAM, or custom frameworks). - **Risk Management Mindset:** Proven ability to identify access security risks early, build mitigation/contingency plans, and track risk-reduction metrics (e.g., access latency, over-provisioning remediation). - **Technical Program Leadership:** Ability to manage timelines, navigate ambiguity, align conflicting priorities, and communicate complex architectures to technical and non-technical stakeholders. **We prefer:** - **Hands-on Development:** Experience writing production-grade code (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript) to build internal tools, automate workflows, and integrate with REST/gRPC APIs. - **Application Architecture:** Experience designing lightweight applications/automation layers on top of legacy vendor systems to improve user experience. - **Access Auditing & Governance:** Experience building automated compliance or review workflows to detect, flag, and de-provision o
