**Forward Deployed Engineer** **About Baseten** Baseten powers mission-critical inference for dynamic AI companies like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. We recently raised our $1.5B Series F and are building the platform engineers use to ship AI products. **The Role** Partner directly with customers to architect, build, and deploy high-scale production AI applications. Own the full journey from exploration to production deployment, translating business goals into reliable, observable services. This hands-on engineering role blends software development with product management, technical customer success, and solution engineering. **Key Responsibilities** • Develop production-level software systems using general-purpose programming languages (Python preferred) • Design and deploy Baseten solutions end-to-end with customer engineering teams • Turn vague objectives into clear specs and well-tested services with velocity • Optimize AI/ML projects and contribute to technical stack improvements • Own products and customer projects as engineer, project manager, and product manager • Navigate ambiguity and exercise good judgment on technical tradeoffs **Requirements** • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field • 2+ years professional experience in fast-paced, high-growth environment • Strong production-level programming experience (Python preferred) • Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and model development lifecycle • Strong communication skills on complex technical topics • Experience building or optimizing AI/ML projects highly valued **Benefits** • Competitive compensation with meaningful equity • 100% medical, dental, vision coverage (U.S.) • Flexible PTO + company Winter Break • Paid parental leave & fertility stipend • 401(k) facilitation (U.S.) • Exposure to diverse ML startups and networking opportunities **Equal Opportunity Employer** — We welcome qualified applicants from all backgrounds.
