**Software Engineer - Training Product** **About Baseten** Baseten powers mission-critical inference for leading AI companies like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. We recently raised our $1.5B Series F and are building the platform engineers use to ship AI products. **The Role** We're seeking a customer-obsessed software engineer to own features like multi-node training and serverless reinforcement learning from conception through GA. You'll work across the full stack—API, UI, and infrastructure—while fine-tuning models to understand user workflows and partnering with research engineers on state-of-the-art training techniques. **Key Responsibilities** • Design ergonomic APIs and abstractions for complex resources • Implement features across API, backend, database, and infrastructure layers • Fine-tune and deploy models to develop training workflow intuition • Partner with model developers and research engineers on post-training workflows • Drive reliability improvements and development velocity • Resolve customer issues with urgency **Requirements** • 5+ years building software applications • Deep knowledge of web stack, databases, and distributed systems • Experience with developer tooling or infrastructure products • Strong product taste, especially for developer-oriented tools • Interest in ML/AI infrastructure • High agency, ownership, and strong communication skills **Nice to Have** • Experience launching features through MVP, Beta, GA cycles • Knowledge of fine-tuning methods (SFT, RL, LoRA, etc.) • Familiarity with training frameworks (PyTorch, Megatron, DeepSpeed, etc.) • AI product/tooling development experience • Frontend fluency **Benefits** Competitive compensation with equity, comprehensive health insurance, flexible PTO with company winter break, paid parental leave, fertility stipend, 401(k), and exposure to diverse ML startups. **Equal Opportunity Employer**
