**Software Engineer, Infrastructure** **About Base** America's next-generation power company rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization through distributed battery networks that transform today's fragile grid into a resilient system. **About The Role** Define and own the foundations that Base's engineering teams build on. Design and operate shared infrastructure, internal platforms, and core services that shape how software and hardware-integrated systems are built across the company. This high-leverage role has organization-wide impact. **What You'll Do** • Work with backend, device, and hardware teams to define service interfaces, deployment patterns, and operational standards • Identify and reduce fragmented implementations as the product surface grows • Design, build, and maintain shared platforms and infrastructure for production • Introduce infrastructure and system patterns supporting distributed services and hardware-integrated systems • Build tooling and defaults for local and remote development • Own and improve CI/CD systems as the organization scales • Document platform architecture and engineering practices **What We're Looking For** • Experience with complex or failure-prone systems and how to design them better • Strong backend or infrastructure engineering experience in cloud environments • Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure • Infrastructure-as-code expertise (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) • Strong programming skills (Go, Python, or similar) • Solid understanding of distributed systems and containerized workloads • CI/CD systems design and evolution experience • Strong cross-team collaboration skills • Comfort with broad, evolving responsibilities in a fast-moving environment **Our Values** First principles thinking • Base pace execution • Direct feedback • Ownership mentality • Strong opinions, loosely held • Mission commitment • In-person, all-in culture *Note: As a startup, priorities and responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.*
