## Engineering Manager — FinTech / Mobile Banking ### About the Role Lead the technology organization supporting **Spruce**, a customer-focused fintech and mobile banking product. You’ll be accountable for **engineering strategy, delivery, operational excellence, and talent leadership** across multiple squads supporting product managers and critical business integrations. You’ll translate business priorities and meaningful customer outcomes into coordinated technology plans—balancing competing demands while ensuring teams deliver **secure, resilient, high-quality** capabilities. ### Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Own the **technology strategy**, **delivery roadmap**, and desired outcomes for Spruce, aligning squad execution with product priorities, customer needs, business objectives, and architectural direction. - Lead and coordinate priorities, dependencies, risks, and delivery across **multiple engineering squads**, product managers, and critical internal/external integrations. - Partner in a **squad trio** model with Product and Design to shape outcomes, clarify priorities, sequence work, and make trade-offs across scope, timing, quality, risk, and capacity. - Provide hands-on leadership for **mobile engineering practices** (preferably native **iOS/Android**), including sustainable architecture, development standards, release readiness, quality, observability, and operational support. - Ensure reliable delivery of **secure, resilient, compliant, high-quality** fintech experiences while maintaining day-to-day production stability and customer service continuity. - Monitor and mitigate risks across product, program, integration, vendor, security, compliance, and operations; establish clear ownership and escalation paths for critical issues. - Create transparency through outcome-based plans, delivery health reporting, dependency management, and concise communication with stakeholders and senior leadership. - Build strong partnerships across business, architecture, cybersecurity, compliance, operations, data, marketing, customer service, vendors, and other technology teams. - Lead, coach, and develop engineers and technical leaders; set expectations, provide actionable feedback, recognize performance, and create growth opportunities. - Maintain succession plans and make thoughtful resourcing decisions based on skills and capacity needed to deliver the most meaningful customer outcomes. - Attract, retain, and grow diverse technical talent while fostering accountability, collaboration, inclusion, continuous learning, and strong engineering ownership. - Apply **AI in day-to-day leadership and delivery**, including agentic development approaches and responsible use of AI across discovery, product/design collaboration, engineering, testing, documentation, operations, and continuous improvement. - Establish practical **AI-enabled working agreements** for the squad trio and engineering teams, with attention to security, privacy, compliance, human review, quality, and measurable value. - Manage budgets, vendors, contracts, and service performance as applicable to keep investments aligned with Spruce priorities and expected outcomes. ### Required Qualifications - **8+ years** progressive experience in technology, software engineering, product delivery, consulting, or related fields; experience leading complex, mission-critical initiatives. - Demonstrated experience leveraging **AI-powered tools** and **agentic development** practices
