**Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), Financial Services - NYC** **ABOUT THE TEAM** OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with banks, asset managers, insurers, and private capital firms to deploy production-grade AI systems in high-stakes financial environments. We operate at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development. **ABOUT THE ROLE** Lead end-to-end deployments of OpenAI's models inside financial services organizations. You'll work with customers in investment banking, trading, risk, compliance, underwriting, and investment decision-making—translating complex workflows, data constraints, and regulatory requirements into production systems. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** • Design and ship production AI systems with ownership of integrations, data flows, reliability, and observability • Lead discovery and scoping from pre-sales through post-production with measurable outcomes • Define launch criteria for regulated environments including controls, audit artifacts, and evaluation benchmarks • Build systems in sensitive data environments with strict access controls and explainability requirements • Run evaluation loops measuring model quality against financial benchmarks • Own delivery across multiple workstreams, balancing scope, speed, and quality • Distill learnings into reference architectures and playbooks that scale across institutions • Surface field feedback informing product capabilities and platform development **YOU MIGHT THRIVE IF YOU HAVE** • 5+ years of software engineering, ML engineering, or technical deployment experience in financial services or regulated industries • End-to-end ownership of complex AI/data-driven systems in high-consequence environments • Experience with financial workflows (research, trading, risk, compliance, underwriting, operations) • Production-grade coding skills in Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks • LLM/generative model deployment experience • Strong communication across engineering, product, risk, compliance, and executive stakeholders • Systems thinking with high execution standards • Calm decision-making under urgent, ambiguous, high-stakes conditions **LOCATION & WORK MODEL** New York-based | Hybrid (3 days/week in office) | Up to 50% travel | Relocation assistance available
