About this role
**Senior IT Operations Engineer — Komodo Health** **About the role** The IT team at Komodo supports end users/help desk, manages endpoints, and runs internal infrastructure—focused on reliable, scalable, and observable support. As the **Senior IT Operations Engineer**, you’ll automate the work currently consuming the team and own the **joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle end to end** (from HR event to fully provisioned employee, and from termination notice to verified deprovisioning). You’ll use **Okta Workflows** as the conductor and **Jira Service Management** as the durable state machine for lifecycle state and audit trails. You’ll also own Jira Service Management request types, routing, approvals, and SLA logic. Beyond lifecycle automation, you’ll partner with **People, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Operations** to identify manual processes worth automating—deciding whether the right answer is configuration, integration, or a process change. These automations are treated like products (named owners, version control, error handling, alerting, and runbooks), not scripts. --- **What you’ll do (first 12 months outcomes)** - Automate the **joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle** across **Workday, Okta, Google Workspace, Jira Service Management, and downstream SaaS**, with a focus on closing **deprovisioning gaps** that create audit exposure. - Design, build, and own automation across the **identity and service stack** using **Okta Workflows**, orchestration recipes, **Google Apps Script**, and **Python**—including version control, error handling, alerting, and runbooks. - Instrument and automate the **IT service queue in Jira Service Management** (request types, routing rules, approval chains, SLA logic, queue design, and self-service deflection) to reduce fulfillment work consuming support capacity. - Own configuration and governance for platforms used by the lifecycle: **Atlassian (Jira/JSM/Confluence), Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom**—and translate business processes into working configuration. - Build custom **API integrations** (REST, JSON, webhooks, OAuth credentials) where native connectors don’t exist. - Deploy **AI-assisted workflows** for ticket triage, knowledge retrieval, drafted first responses, and evidence summarization—while keeping **human review gates** for anything that grants, changes, or removes access. - Own the **SaaS and non-human identity lifecycle** (intake, security review, SSO via SAML/OIDC, **SCIM provisioning**, license governance, and decommissioning) with least privilege, rotation, and periodic review. - Own the automation backlog: prioritize by **volume and risk**, report results (tickets deflected and hours returned), and produce **SOC 2 / HIPAA audit evidence** without recurring fire drills. --- **Responsibilities** - Proven experience automating IT and identity operations in a SaaS-first environment, with examples of manual processes eliminated and measurable results. - Hands-on administration of **Okta** (Okta Workflows, lifecycle management, SCIM provisioning). - **Jira / Jira Service Management administration** (automation rules, request types, workflows, permission schemes, queue design). - Proficiency in **Python** (or equivalent scripting) and strong **Google Workspace administration** (e.g., GAM / Admin SDK). - Experience building multi-step, event-driven flows in orchestration/integration platforms (Workato, Zapier, Tray, SnapLogic, or similar), including branching, retries, and error handling. - Com
