Growth Platform, Marketing Engineer
Faire · San Francisco, CA
About this role
**About Faire** Faire is a technology wholesale platform built on the belief that the future is local. Independent retailers around the globe represent a multi-hundred-billion-dollar wholesale market that has historically been fragmented and offline. At Faire, we use tech, data, and machine learning to connect entrepreneurs worldwide—helping local businesses discover and sell great products. We’re looking for smart, resourceful, and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. --- ## Role Overview Faire’s marketing org runs largely on systems marketing does not currently build. Audiences and attributes, campaign automation, landing pages, attribution, translation, paid feeds, monitoring, and alerting are often assembled request-by-request or depend on partner engineering pods. As a **Marketing Engineer**, you’ll build those systems inside marketing on Faire’s production stack—so marketers can run independently. This is an engineering role sitting inside marketing. You’ll write production code across Faire’s codebase, own services end to end, participate in on-call, and help put agents into marketing workflows with the evals and monitoring that make them trustworthy at scale. You’ll be measured on whether the marketing org gained a capability it did not have before. --- ## What you’ll build first (short-term) **1) Marketing-led landing pages** Our current workflow is slower than it should be for blog, newsroom, and content teams—and landing page tests in lifecycle and paid often involve too much prioritization and discussion versus building experiences. You’ll own this surface end to end, including deciding what comes next (vendor vs. in-house, or a self-serve agentic landing page service). Outcome: better, faster landing pages, more self-serve, and happier partner teams. **2) Self-serve audiences and attributes** Partner teams currently go through Faire for audience syncing with paid platforms and marketing-led lifecycle. We want this to become self-serve for marketers. You’ll help determine the approach (vendor or in-house), enforce the data contract in code, and define what the self-serve layer looks like—so we reach the right person with the right message. **Other projects on our radar** - Learning loop for generative assets in ad campaigns - Improving infra behind core intelligence feeds powering paid campaigns - Real-time recommendation management across lifecycle and paid - More --- ## How we work - Own services end to end: design, build, review, deploy, monitor - Ship in Faire’s production codebase to engineering standards (with engineer code review) - Sit with lifecycle, paid, brand, and product marketing (not behind a ticket queue); identify patterns and build so requests stop arriving - Put agents into the patterned majority of the queue with an eval harness, monitoring, and a defined failure mode before anything reaches a customer - Turn ambiguous asks into scoped, prioritized plans and communicate tradeoffs/progress to non-technical stakeholders --- ## Qualifications **Required** - 4+ years shipping and owning production software in or adjacent to a marketing, growth, or GTM organization - Experience working in Faire’s production codebase (Kotlin, Java, JUnit, Hibernate, Guice, Jersey, React/Next.js, HTTP/JSON/Protocol Buffers, MySQL/CockroachDB, AWS) - SQL and comfort in the warehouse to instrument what matters and decide what to build next - Depth in at least one marketing platform
