**Staff HPC Engineer** **About Vast** Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, with 1,000+ employees and over $1B in private capital, Vast is building America's next space station and future habitats for the Moon and Mars. **Position** Full-time, exempt position in Long Beach reporting to Manager, IT Infrastructure. **Responsibilities** • Build, support, and architect Vast's high-performance compute (HPC) infrastructure • Design and implement enhancements to the HPC environment for performance, usability, and cost optimization • Provide support to engineering teams using HPC for analysis • Own the lifecycle of HPC infrastructure including updates, patching, maintenance, performance, and reliability • Integrate HPC environment with broader engineering design cycle (NX/Teamcenter and post-processing) • Manage onboarding process for new applications and users **Minimum Qualifications** • 8+ years HPC administration and architecture or relevant industry experience • Experience supporting HPC clusters in Aerospace (structural, dynamic, mechanical, CFD analyses) • Deep understanding of SLURM and Linux • Experience shaping HPC architecture and administration for engineering organizations • Proven track record leading technical initiatives from concept to production • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Math, Engineering, or equivalent experience **Preferred Skills** • AWS Parallel Cluster for HPC • Infrastructure/configuration as code (Terraform, Puppet) • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Expertise in Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, STAR-CCM, Wave6 • On-premise HPC environments with virtualization and hardware • Python or equivalent scripting • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities **Compensation** $171,000 – $243,000 USD (California) Comprehensive benefits include equity, medical/dental/vision, 20+ vacation days, paid parental leave, 401(k), ClassPass, mental health support, and free meals. **Requirements** Must be a U.S. person as defined by export control regulations.
