We build programmable financial infrastructure—rethinking from first principles how financial services should work—so it’s easier and cheaper for any business to start and scale. Stripe powers millions of businesses worldwide, processing trillions of dollars each year. We invest heavily in our technology, ship upgrades to our products every day, and maintain reliable APIs. We also build new pieces of financial infrastructure and advance risk and fraud capabilities to make the internet economy safer and more accessible. ## Your role Stripe is large enough that individual products and projects can be deployed to a meaningful fraction of the world’s businesses, but small enough that individual agency still has outsized impact. We’re looking for people who move with urgency, like hard problems, and want their work to matter during a time of great change. ## Who you are - **Ambitious builder:** Energized by building solutions without clear precedent and solving problems with far-reaching consequences. Deeply curious and prefer the joy of discovery. - **Rigorous thinker:** Enjoy working on problems that have never been tackled before. - **Adaptable problem solver:** Adapts quickly and treats obstacles as opportunities. ## Minimum requirements - Must be available to start full-time before **December 1, 2026** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science (or directly related field) obtained by **summer 2026**, or equivalent work experience - New grad candidates: **no more than 18 months** of professional experience (excluding internship experience) - Experience/familiarity with programming (Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, Go). New languages can be learned with strong fundamentals - Experience from internships or collaborative multi-person coding projects (university or professional) - Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and form understanding via independent research and working with a mentor/SMEs - Clear written communication skills; ability to explain your work to stakeholders and team members - Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate development while applying rigorous critical thinking and professional judgment ## Preferred qualifications - Specialized knowledge in areas like frontend, backend, or infrastructure—balanced with general skills - Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems - Familiarity with navigating and managing work in large code bases - Experience leading small projects independently and contributing to larger projects - High agency in navigating complex technical obstacles—knowing when to unblock yourself vs. when to ask for help
