About this role

**About the Company** At Torc, we believe autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business. Torc has been a leader in autonomous driving since 2007 and has spent over a decade commercializing its solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, Torc focuses on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight. **Meet the Team** Torc’s Map Enablement team is looking for a Software Engineer to help deliver and scale its mapping and routing system in preparation for Torc’s commercial expansion. You’ll bring a strong foundation in data processing pipelines and APIs, along with the judgment to make sound design decisions when requirements are loosely defined. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams that use Map Enablement’s software—creating tailored solutions and turning feedback into features. **What You’ll Do** - Design and build scalable, cost-effective mapping and routing data pipelines and services for commercial launch. - Take ambiguous or partially-defined problems from internal customers and drive them to a concrete technical design (scoping tradeoffs independently before looping in senior engineers). - Work with Map Enablement and neighboring teams to understand customer needs and translate them into well-scoped features. - Participate in and provide substantive feedback on technical design and code reviews. - Promote operational excellence by implementing effective testing, monitoring, and alerting for Map Enablement’s services and pipelines. - Participate in the on-call rotation to support the health of our services. - Contribute to project planning, helping shape priorities based on customer expectations and technical constraints. - Uphold a culture of collaboration, transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decision-making. **What You’ll Need** - Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related) with 4+ years experience **or** Master’s degree with 0–3+ years experience. - Solid knowledge of at least one programming language (C++, Python); Python preferred. - Experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, EventBridge, Glue, Athena).
