This role is for builders and owners who move with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. --- ## Overview Within Okta Platform R&D, you’ll help protect the future of work by defining the forward-looking vision for Okta’s **UI platform infrastructure**. You’ll work with a globally distributed engineering team to build frameworks and systems that empower feature teams to deliver world-ready software—while developing and maintaining shared libraries and tools used across the organization. --- ## In this role, you’ll get to… - **Define, own, and drive** the architectural vision and technical roadmap for a major UI platform subsystem (e.g., UI modernization journeys, internationalization infrastructure, versioning strategies), securing buy-in across dependent feature teams. - Serve as the **definitive design reviewer** for high-impact proposals and cross-team interface specifications, ensuring long-term technical integrity and maintainability. - **Drive cross-functional alignment** and resolve technical ambiguity for initiatives spanning multiple product teams, translating product strategy into actionable technical architecture. - Shape a culture of **continuous learning** by sharing knowledge, mentoring Senior Engineers, and establishing best practices. - **Empower developers** by building reusable components and robust design patterns that help other teams deliver world-ready UIs and APIs efficiently. - Be a **hands-on contributor**, driving implementation and ensuring technical quality of the platform’s most complex and foundational components. --- ## Minimum Requirements - **5+ years** of software development experience - Expertise in **software architecture and implementation**, with strong development background in **Java, Python, or C++**, and significant experience with frameworks such as **Spring, React.js, or Node.js** - Strong grasp of software engineering designs, principles, and practices for **scalable, maintainable systems** - Strong communication skills; able to distill complex concepts into clear narratives --- ## Nice to have - Experience defining and implementing **internationalization and localization** strategies for large-scale enterprise applications - Familiarity with **globalization and accessibility tooling/processes** - Familiarity with **UI build tooling, CLIs, and design systems** - Experience on a **platform team** treating developers as customers --- ## Additional requirements - **U.S. soil status:** employee must be on U.S. soil (50 states, DC, or outlying areas as defined in FAR 2.101) and be a **U.S. person** - **U.S. person status:** must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or U.S. national (includes citizens and non-citizens born in outlying possessions). **Working on a U.S. visa does NOT qualify as a U.S. person.** --- ## Location / Work model - **#LI-Hybrid** - **#LI-MA1** --- ## Compensation (San Francisco Bay Area) Annual base salary range: **$194,000 – $267,000 USD** Okta also offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (PTO and parental leave) per applicable plans and policies. --- ## The Okta Experience - Supporting Your Well-Being - Driving Social Impact - Developing Talent and Fostering C
