About this role

## Software Engineer ### About the role Allium is building the **system of record for onchain finance**—so institutions can reliably interpret, standardize, and read blockchain data at scale. Blockchains are optimized for **writes**, not reads: data is fragmented, standards vary across protocols, and answering even simple questions can require running nodes, decoding contracts, and building complex pipelines. Allium addresses these gaps by ingesting, verifying, and standardizing data across **140+ blockchains** and **30+ petabytes** of history, including: - **Semantic Gap**: translate raw events into financial concepts (payments, trades, deposits, staking income) - **Standardization Gap**: map thousands of protocols into a single canonical cross-chain schema - **Infrastructure Gap**: read-optimized, globally distributed data at web scale - **Accountability Gap**: auditable methodology, SLAs, and **SOC 1 & SOC 2** compliance ### Who you’ll support Allium powers three core personas on the same canonical data foundation: 1. **Finance, Accounting, and Risk Teams** — audit-grade reporting, reconciliation, compliance, risk monitoring, defensible metrics 2. **Engineers and Product Teams** — low-latency, production-ready infrastructure for wallets, trading, payment rails, staking, and real-time apps 3. **Strategy, Research, and Executive Teams** — ecosystem economics, market structure, user behavior, competitive dynamics, and capital flows (And yes—**agents** 🦞.) ### Example problem areas - **Data egress**: moving 100s of TBs globally without breaking the “piggybank” - **High traffic / scale**: supporting peak loads up to **100,000 QPS** - **Botnets**: detecting botnets via behavioral patterns - **Fraud (Sybil) detection**: transferring heuristics into blockchain contexts - **Meaningful transactions**: identifying what’s real vs. organic onchain activity - **Bring Your Own Transformation**: letting customers design their own APIs and transform realtime streams - **Data governance**: ensuring consistency across copies and regions **24/7** - **AI & LLMs**: designing AI experiences on top of canonical data - **Data transformation**: unifying streaming + batch transformation logic into one codebase ### Tech & infrastructure (tools you may work with) - **OLAP**: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, ClickHouse - **OLTP**: Postgres, Aurora - **Event buses**: Kafka, SNS, PubSub - **Cloud**: AWS, GCP, Azure (eventually) - **Data transformation/orchestration**: Apache Beam, Materialize, TinyBird, DBT, SQLMesh, Temporal - **Governance**: DataFold ### Values - **Obsessiveness** (care about the small things; “half-right” isn’t acceptable) - **Pro Athlete Mindset** (consistency over time) - **Figure it out & Extreme Ownership** - **High Agency** (responsiveness and effective resolutions) - **Leading from the front** (build the MVP) - **Strong opinions on the future** (loosely held) - **Sense of Allium business smell** (work that creates leverage) ### Administrative benefits (high level) - Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & AD&D insurance - US: 100% coverage for Gold plans; 80% for dependents - Meaningful early-stage equity (stock option grant) - Flexible, trust-based paid time off - US: company-sponsored 401(k) ### Pop quiz (application) All applicants must answer: - **“What is an Allium? What is your favorite Allium?”** Bonus points for the right pronunciation.
