About this role

**Embedded Linux Software Engineer – Robotics Platform (DeviceOS)** **About Anduril** Anduril Industries is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. Anduril’s systems are powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. **About the Team** The **DeviceOS team** engineers the unified, highly reliable operating system and hardware-enablement platform that powers Anduril’s autonomous assets—taking systems from early schematics to hardened, field-ready robotics deployed in challenging environments. **About the Job** You’ll own the boundary where **custom hardware meets software**. This includes customizing vendor **BSPs**, evaluating upstream changes, and debugging the boot chain end-to-end—from **firmware (EDK2/U-Boot)** through **unified kernel images** to an **encrypted root filesystem** running at the tactical edge. You’ll work across embedded ARM architectures and NVIDIA Jetson modules integrated with sensors and compute, including cameras, radars, CAN-connected sensor nodes, GPS, flight controllers, radios, and motor drivers. You’ll be able to diagnose hardware issues (e.g., bus faults from schematics), remediate kernel CVEs on deployed hardware, and write platform drivers that keep robots operating. **What You’ll Do** - **Own the Boot Path:** End-to-end ownership of the boot sequence on deployed compute (low-level firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, unified kernel images, initrd, encrypted storage unlock, and handoff to a running NixOS environment). Debug boot failures on hardware via remote support. - **Customize & Sustain Vendor BSPs:** Reconcile vendor BSPs with our platform needs and keep them current. - **Maintain a Deployed Fleet:** Write fixes for existing hardware and boot chains—because regressions can require real field service. **Key Skills / Focus Areas** - Embedded Linux boot chains and low-level bring-up - Kernel drivers and device trees - Debugging firmware → bootloader → kernel → encrypted root filesystem - Security patching (e.g., kernel CVEs) on deployed systems - Hardware/software integration and remote fleet support
