ID.me is committed to “No Identity Left Behind” and supports secure digital identity for all. **Role Overview** ID.me is seeking a **Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack** to join the **Commerce & Loyalty** team. This team owns the **ID.me Shop** experience—cashback, affiliate offers, merchant discounts, and loyalty programs—along with the marketing and campaign surfaces that drive member engagement and commerce revenue. This is a **full-stack product role** focused primarily on deepening and scaling the Shop experience (not shared platform or design-system infrastructure). You’ll spend significant time on the **React/Next.js** web experience while also building and extending the backend services and APIs that power these features. **Work Location** - **In-office, five days per week** (Mountain View, CA) **Key Responsibilities** - **Build and maintain Shop web experiences** using **React, Next.js, and TypeScript** (personalized offer discovery, cashback/loyalty flows, merchant/store pages) - **Build and extend backend services** (REST endpoints and services) with full ownership from UI through backend - **Integrate with platform APIs** (Shopping Graph and Developer Portal APIs) for merchant data, offer eligibility, and personalization signals - **Support infrastructure modernization** (e.g., **GKE migration** for Shop and adoption of shared UI patterns) - **Contribute to UI Foundations as needed** when Shop patterns have broader applicability - **Partner closely with Design and Product** to translate commerce, personalization, and loyalty concepts into member-centered web UI - **Set engineering standards** for testing, code quality, and review processes; mentor engineers - **Ensure performance, accessibility, and reliability**, including production support (triaging and resolving incidents/bugs) **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) - Strong frontend engineering experience (**typically 5+ years**) - Deep expertise in **vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and the DOM** - Hands-on production experience shipping **native Web Components** (Custom Elements, templates, Shadow DOM, slots, events) - Solid production experience with **React (and Next.js)** - Experience with **UI component libraries** or **design systems** - Familiarity with **design tokens, theming, and scalable CSS** (custom properties, shared stylesheets) - Proven collaboration with design on system-level UI - Strong grasp of **accessibility standards** and browser behavior - Working proficiency in a backend language for building/maintaining **REST services** - Full stack ownership experience (frontend UI through backend services/APIs) - **AI-native engineering practices** (comfortable using AI tooling such as code generation, test coverage, and documentation) **We’d Love to See** - Experience with ID.me’s commerce/marketplace stack and shared internal design systems - Experience with **micro-frontend architectures** or contributing
