**Senior Engineering Manager, Wirecutter** **About the Role:** Lead the Growth team's engineering efforts at Wirecutter, The New York Times' product review and shopping guide platform. You'll manage 5-10 front-end engineers building experiences that grow reader relationships through search discovery, registration, newsletters, and cross-platform distribution. Reports to VP of Engineering. **Key Responsibilities:** • Lead and mentor front-end engineers across career levels • Coach individual contributors and emerging managers • Own execution, staffing, technical health, and operational practices • Partner with Product, Design, and Data teams on roadmap and strategy • Ensure technical decisions align with broader technical strategy • Communicate plans, progress, and tradeoffs to stakeholders • Collaborate across Wirecutter and The NY Times on shared initiatives **Basic Qualifications:** • 3+ years of engineering management experience (hiring, developing, retaining engineers) • Expertise in front-end web development and production software • Experience managing senior engineers and partnering with staff-level technical leaders • Proven ability to translate product/business goals into engineering outcomes • Fluency with AI-assisted software development **Preferred Qualifications:** • TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and site performance optimization • A/B testing and experimentation platforms • Data-informed product development in commercial environments • Web accessibility, SEO, or search/discovery technologies • Experience shipping AI-powered workflow changes **Compensation & Benefits:** $185,000–$210,000 USD base salary + variable pay, bonuses, RSUs, medical/dental/vision, 401(k) match, paid leave, tuition reimbursement **Work Arrangement:** Hybrid (NYC headquarters, 2 days/week); remote considered Req: REQ-020675
