## Lithic — Senior Software Engineer, Processing **Location:** Remote (US, Canada—Ontario or British Columbia, Netherlands, Poland, or Czech Republic). **No visa sponsorship/assistance.** **About the role** Lithic is the modern card issuing and processing platform empowering ambitious financial companies to build the future of payments. The **Processing** team builds and maintains the real-time interfaces between Lithic and external payment networks—covering card authorizations, clearing messages, settlement files, transaction enrichment, disputes processing, and network compliance. These systems have strict **latency** and **uptime** requirements and sit on the critical path for every card transaction. The team also manages **physical network peering** with card network partners. **Tech stack (primarily):** Java, Python, Kotlin on AWS. --- ## What you’ll do - Ensure **high reliability, low latency, and correctness** for transaction processing interfaces and related services - Develop new capabilities across **authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration** surfaces - Deliver **reliable, secure, scalable** code with **minimal tech debt** - Evolve infrastructure supporting **physical network peering** (connectivity, failover, capacity) - Own initiatives from **planning to launch**, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned - Participate in the **on-call rotation** - Lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team and across engineering - Help drive **strategic planning** with the engineering manager and product manager --- ## What you bring - **8+ years** experience shipping code in fast-paced production environments - Advanced **distributed systems** instincts and design skills - Experience driving **large cross-functional projects** across engineering, product, and operations - Proven commitment to **empathy and inclusion** - **Excellent communication** skills - **Growth mindset** and continuous desire to learn and improve - Interest in **fintech** and the payments space (preferred) --- ## Compensation - Annual US salary range: **$160,000 – $200,000** plus equity - Range may include multiple career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on experience and qualifications --- ## Work setup - **Remote position**, but candidates must be located in the regions listed above. - This is also described as a **hybrid** role: candidates must be within commutable distance to Lithic’s **NYC office in SoHo**. **No visa sponsorship/assistance.** --- ## Benefits (Full-Time US Employees) - **Unlimited PTO** - **12 weeks fully paid parental leave** - **4-week fully paid sabbatical** (earned at your 5-year anniversary) - **Work From Anywhere:** 4 weeks each year - **3% cashback** on card purchases with your complimentary [Privacy.com](http://Privacy.com) employee account - Health, vision, and dental insurance; **HSA contribution match** - **401(k) match** - Voluntary Life Insurance and STD/LTD **NYC-based employees:** work from the SoHo office **three days a week** (Tuesdays and Thursdays are core days; you choose a third day based on schedule and team needs).
