Deployed Engineer, Enterprise Systems
JUUL Labs · San Francisco, California, United States
About this role
**THE COMPANY** Juul Labs’ mission is to transition the world’s billion adult smokers away from combustible cigarettes, eliminate their use, and combat underage usage of our products. We’re committed to exceptional quality, research, design, and innovation—and we hire top talent across engineering, science, design, product, operations, and customer/business functions. **ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES** The Enterprise AI Systems team owns the systems that run Juul Labs’ core business—ERP, HRIS, Quality & Regulatory, CRM, and IT Service Management—and is rebuilding how those systems are built, changed, and maintained. Instead of manual configuration and ticket-driven support, we treat system configuration as code (version-controlled, tested, deployed via CI/CD), increasingly with AI coding agents under human review. This role is closer to a DevOps/forward-deployed engineering position than a traditional IT support role. **What you’ll do** - Build Configuration-as-Code (CaC) for core enterprise systems (ERP, HRIS, Quality/Regulatory, CRM, ITSM) so changes are version-controlled, tested, and deployed like software. - Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows for business systems configuration and integration changes. - Add human-in-the-loop (HITL) review steps so AI-generated changes are validated before production. - Evaluate and operationalize AI coding agents to accelerate configuration, integration builds, and regression testing—helping define where these tools can safely replace contractor work. - Create reusable automated test scripts and regression suites to reduce manual testing per release. - Build and maintain integrations between enterprise systems using REST, SOAP, EDI, and middleware tools. - Partner with stakeholders (Finance, Supply Chain, Quality/Regulatory, HR, Sales) to translate business requirements into automated, auditable system changes. - Maintain data integrity, security, and compliance across automated pipelines and configuration changes (including SOX and ITGC controls). - Document system architecture, data flows, and pipelines for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. **PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS** - 5+ years in enterprise systems engineering, DevOps, or business systems development; hands-on ownership of at least one major ERP, HRIS, CRM, Quality/Regulatory, or ITSM platform in a live production environment. - Strong understanding of enterprise data/process flows and cross-system dependencies. - Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Git for version-controlled deployments. - Experience with (or strong interest in) AI coding agents/agentic engineering tools on real production work. - Proficiency in SQL; experience building automated test scripts and regression suites for large data sets. - Experience with API/integration technologies (REST, SOAP, EDI) and middleware tools. - Working knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOX, ITGC; quality/regulatory experience is a plus). - Strong written and verbal communication skills. **EDUCATION** - BS in Computer Science or related engineering field, or equivalent experience. **JUUL LABS PERKS & BENEFITS** - Opportunities to grow your career and set ambitious goals - Work with talented, committed, supportive teammates - Equity and performance bonuses (every employee is a stakeholder) - Cell phone subsidy, commuter benefits, and discounts on JUUL products - Excellent medical/dental/vision, disability, and life insurance;
