Director, Applied AI Architects
Braze · New York City
About this role
**Director, Applied AI Architects** **About the Role** Lead Braze's Applied AI Architects team—forward-deployed practitioners who embed with business teams to build and ship working AI agents. The function operates in two tracks: GTM Architects permanently embedded in Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Support; and G&A Architects rotating across Finance, People, Legal, and Operations. You'll define how this new role category operates, own the engagement portfolio, and answer for measurable outcomes in adoption, workflow improvement, and business metrics. **Key Responsibilities** • Build and develop a team of senior, highly autonomous ICs in a role category barely existing in the market • Own the engagement portfolio—decide where Architects embed, what they prioritize, and manage rotations • Deliver committed GTM bets (sales ramp time, quota capacity, competitive win rate) and run G&A promotion pipelines • Enforce operating discipline across the engagement lifecycle and cohort maturity model • Stay hands-on: review agent designs, carry your own build surface, maintain field credibility • Partner with Applied AI Product leadership to move field-proven patterns into shared infrastructure • Negotiate embed agreements with senior leadership and protect team focus • Document and publish what works—make Braze a reference point for scaled SaaS applied AI **Who You Are** • Proven leader of senior technical ICs (forward-deployed engineering, solutions consulting, field engineering, or applied AI/ML) • Builder with current hands—personally built AI agents or LLM-powered tools that changed real work • Credible in B2B SaaS commercial motion; comfortable in pipeline reviews and executive meetings • Portfolio operator who thinks in impact, feasibility, and sequencing across competing demands • Fluent in measurement—can design baselines, defend leading indicators, and dollarize efficiency gains • Zero-to-one leader who has stood up functions where no playbook existed **Minimum Requirements** • 10+ years spanning GTM-adjacent technical work and hands-on building • 3+ years leading senior individual contributors with evidence of development and retention • Demonstrated hands-on experience building AI-powered tools, agents, or workflows • Track record standing up and scaling new teams or functions • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills • Experience defining and defending business-impact measurement **Compensation & Benefits** US-based: $193,000–$304,000/year base; $241,000–$345,000/year OTE (including bonus). Equity grants (RSUs), comprehensive benefits, flexible PTO, professional development support, and hybrid work options. **Why This Matters** The window to define this role category—inside Braze and across the industry—is open now. You'll turn a funded plan and strong first hire into a team the company builds its expectations around.
