## Senior Software Engineer – Platform & API Integration ### Overview Peraton is supporting a federal data migration program to close a critical gap in Endangered Species Act (ESA) research. The project integrates marine and anadromous species data into the existing U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) IPaC platform, creating a unified experience for all ESA-listed species. You will lead Information for Planning and Consultation (IPaC) website application architecture updates and API integration work, enabling new species data to flow seamlessly into existing consultation workflows. ### Day-to-Day Responsibilities - Lead application architecture updates to support new species data integration, ensuring compliance with platform constraints and IT governance standards - Design and implement API integration between the application and the cloud data platform to enable species data retrieval for consultation workflows - Implement new species display functionality (e.g., habitat designations, listing status, regulatory requirements) - Update and align programmatic consultation logic, including joint agency consultation handling logic - Support establishment and maintenance of a demo environment for government demonstrations - Perform interoperability testing by resolving application-layer defects identified during testing - Contribute to the IPaC UI and Logic Update Package by delivering application-layer integration components, including: - API connections - Species display functionality - Joint agency consultation handling logic - Support delivery of Updated DKeys and Consultation Package Builder assets by implementing required platform-side integration updates - Execute production cutover application deployment activities per the approved migration playbook - Contribute to Final Operational Playbooks by documenting application maintenance procedures and incident response protocols ### Qualifications **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree + 8 years professional experience, **or** Master’s degree + 6 years, **or** Associate’s degree + 10 years, **or** High school diploma/equivalent + 12 years - **U.S. Citizenship required**; must be able to obtain and maintain a **Public Trust** clearance - Extensive experience with software development focused on federal application integration - Experience designing and implementing **REST API integrations** between federal applications and cloud data platforms - Proficiency in **Java, Python, or equivalent** backend development languages - Experience with **Git** (or equivalent) for federal application code management and deployment - Familiarity with federal software development standards and **FedRAMP-compliant** deployment - Familiarity with **Section 508 / WCAG 2.0** accessibility requirements - Familiarity with federal IT governance frameworks and platform constraint management **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with the **IPaC** platform or similar federal environmental decision support systems - Familiarity with **DKey** systems or consultation package builder platforms - Familiarity with **Databricks** or cloud data lakehouse API integration - Familiarity with integration testing frameworks or API contract testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI) - Experience with Agile/iterative software development on federal programs - Familiarity with DOI, FWS, or NOAA Fisheries IT environments ### Work Location - **Remote** ### Target Salary Range - **$80,000 – $128,000** (salary varie
